Carl, if it’s not clear to you, their whole farm system now revolves around Dylan crews. There’s nothing interesting to watch play out lol

Granted, it was long and I’m not sure I’d have read it myself, but my post specifically said none of those guys would keep Dylan from D.C. What I think is interesting to watch is what they’ll do with the rest of them. And whether or not they give him a legit chance to win a job out of spring training next year or if they try to manipulate his service time since they are probably set to battle the Mets for last place in the East next year.

The Rangers drafted Kumar Rocker and Leiter from Vandy, and they want to keep them in the minors for a few year

Kumar rocker has 6 career start in the minors.

Jack leiter has a 5.53 era in two seasons at AA

Most of your college all-stars get hung up in AA after a few years. Few even make it to AAA, and far fewer ever get a taste of the show

That being said, I watched the AA game with Crews yesterday, and it was pretty obvious he was the best player out there.

does this mean someone on the active roster has to be sent down to the farm?

Player could be released, traded, IR, etc. This late in the season, some teams will shelve their players if they’re out of the hunt and see what talent they have in the minors.

No it doesn't. Morales was hitting .390 in the same time Crews was in Single A. He got moved up to High A, along with moving Crews. I expect by 2025 season to see Crews and Morales opening day starters for the nats. Plus a lot of other young talent. The nats have one of the best farm systems in baseball right now

Nats are in a complete rebuild and do not have mlb talent to block anyone. Even so, guys like Elijah green (1.5)and Robert Hassell (Soto trade)will prob fall off top 100 lists this offseason. James Wood has nice profile but they have room for anyone that proves worthy

Combined with 3 years at LSU, plus a pressure packed postseason run, baw is literally in mid-season form already in the pros. You might say, he’s got things on…. Crews control…

We don’t disagree. In fact, you’re helping underscore one of my points about their upcoming decisions. They may have to move a couple of these guys soon while they still have value. I think Crews (#4 overall) and Wood (#7 overall) are untouchable. The rest are assets that they’ve got to decide how to get the most value out of.

Admittedly, a lot of my interest is from the POV of a Braves fan as much as a Crews fan. Most posters on this board probably don’t care a whole lot about the Nationals 19-year-old #9 prospect who’s not projected to make the big leagues before 2027. None of those guys will affect Crews, though. If anything, he’s an anchor that they can count on that will allow them to be able to move off some of the other guys to bolster the pitching on their system. He’s probably got the highest floor of any college baseball player I’ve ever seen. Wood’s ceiling is probably too high to move. The rest are fair game.

But they aren't an affiliated team anymore as their whole league is now an Independent League.

I was curious about that. They used to be affiliated w/ the Brewers. I actually was at a game last night and me & the guy I was with were wondering what, if any, the affiliation was now.
