Hurt his oblique muscle

I just saw that too, on the bottom line watching the SEC tournament.
It's a real shame too. Seems like he was really turning it around after a rough start to the season.

Be sure he doesn't walk around in flip flops or he may never play again.

I wonder if they use this as a reason to send him to MiLB to rehab

He had a couple of good games, but I wouldn’t call it turning the corner. Yes, the last 7 days he looked good but the previous 13 games (15 days) he was hitting about .206, which I guess is better than the .167 for the month of May. May had fallen off from April and was second only to March where he had a .000 BA in 15 ABs. His average in May was .167. This injury and rehab might really help him in the long run.

Every time he hits a single, this board thinks he’s “figured it out”

Almost every big league player who goes on the IL for an extended period will get a week or so of rehab work at one of the team’s minor league affiliates before coming back to the big club

There are rare exceptions for any longer term IL. If this is one, I fully expect a rehab assignment like everyone else. If nothing else to get any timing back he may have lost.
