Defending national champion Ole Miss is 0-6? Miss State, perennially a tough team, is 0-7? Highly touted Texas A&M is 1-5? Really?

Sure it’s early. These teams are still probably still good enough to challenge in any series. But these teams are already in big trouble. You probably have to win at least 20 of 30 games to win the SEC which means Ole Miss would have to go 20-4 over their next 24 games. It’s mighty early in the season for a defending national champ to be so close to being out of the hunt for an SEC title.

Right now, and yes it’s too early to say this, but the west could be a two horse race with Arky and LSU, making winning that series last week so big. Looking ahead, LSU is in the heart of a tough schedule. Arkansas finishes with Vandy and South Carolina. Sheesh, the SEC is tough.

You have to figure one of the other teams in the West will make a run. It’s still a shocker the Mississippi teams haven’t won an SEC game. Thats has to suck for their fans to be in such a huge hole so early. No doubt someone will come back to the pack, but their margin for error is very thin.

SEC baseball is so fun this year with all the good teams. Who knows who will be the wicked witch of the East with Florida, Vandy, Kentucky and South Carolina playing well you and can’t count out Tennessee. I find myself watching the other SEC games when LSU is not playing. For whatever reason, I find watching SEC baseball more fun than MLB.

It’s obvious.

Get through the first four weekends and put it on cruise control

18 in a row in the SEC. That is staggering how much they have fallen in 2 years. Looks eerily similar to 2020-21 LSU football.

Ole Miss was sub .500 in SEC play last season. 0-6 is only 2 series with a lot of ball left to play.

We've had a couple of really bad starts to the season. Mainieri's last season, we started 1-8 and finished 13-17. We made a super that year. If they can turn it around this weekend, there's still hope. I don't know their schedule, but both still have to play LSU. They don't have much room for error remaining.

Never said they were out of it, just said 0-6 is a mighty big hole to come from to win the SEC title.

Sure but it doesn't really matter. As ole miss proved last year almost all of these SEC teams are talented enough that if they get hot at the right time they can win the CWS
