I have this conversation with friends all the time. He coaches by percentages and like you said "by the book" without any "feel for the flow" of the game or his players. He'll pull a guy who's just went 4-4 at the plate just because there's leftie or rightie(who hasn't batted in the game) that supposedly is a better matchup depending on what handed pitcher is in the game. Crazy.

Corbin hasn't won as much as Mainieri in any metric and has choked with the best of them. O'Sullivan is a push only because he finally broke through last year. Bertman is not an active coach.
