Say all of our drams come true and Wade leads LSU to great success, including a final four or two and - gasp - a national title? Obviously, he'd be a huge coaching prospect for a bigger bball school like, say, being the next guy at Kentucky.

What would be LSU's chances of hanging onto him in this situation? Would they be willing to protect success the way they do in football and offer contracts that compete for biggest in the nation (yes, I know what O makes. I men before that and what they are willing to pay now if necessary), or would they allow Wade to pursue another job, one that could end up being a terror in the SEC for years to come?

In other words, how much does bball mean to LSU?

Ask anyone when Daddy Dale was the coach how much basketball meant. Yes we could be a powerhouse, why not?

Yeah, but Dale never made close to top dollar.

We have 3 times as many pro HOF'ers in bball than football. You'd think we'd spend a lot on a guy if he brought that much success and following.

But, Saban didn't, so who knows?

Wade essentially equals Coach Jones. He is not Saban. The program is in the same place it would have been had Coach Jones stayed.

OH MY!!! I always knew you were a terrible poster. Like among the very worst of the worst on this board.

You aren't serious though. You have to be trolling. You just have to be. There is no other logical explanation.

You forgetting a pretty big name for a hall of famer. We named a building after him.

But this does pose an interesting question. How many lsu players are in NFL hall of fame?

No he’s not Saban but I think LSU would be willing to pay money to keep him at LSU as long as he’s successful. We may not be a basketball school but we’re a sports school and we can keep pace with bigger basketball schools because our athletic budget as a whole brings in a lot unlike say Duke who is good at basketball and only basketball

Could he? Yes.

Could I also become athletic director? Yes

Will he become the Saban is a better question.

That depends on if he actually goes to a winning program and wins multiple national championships. He’s not going to that at a place like LSU.

LSU will not do what it takes to keep WW if he is Saban- level successful. But keep in mind LSU is not a destination program for college basketball. If WW is really that successful, I can see him taking over one of the all-time great programs once their coach retires, e.g. Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, etc. LSU could never compete with that.
