Saban is on track to have his second undefeated season in a row.

12-2 with a loss to non-BCS conference Utah.

Miles = 11-2, 11-2, 12-2, 8-5, 8-2

I'm not saying Saban isn't doing great at Bama. He is. Let's just not quite anoint him God yet. As much as everybody is already writing off Miles at 8-2, let's not pencil Saban in at 14-0 either. He could end up 11-3 with losses to Auburn, Florida, and bowl. Miles could end up 11-2.

Remember, Saban doesn't play Florida in the regular season AND we lost to them in OT with JL in '08 and 24-15 in '09 with ... oh yeah, JL in the 4th.

Make all the excuses you want. There's always an excuse for this team, to be honest. If we don't lose JJ you'd blame Crowton. If Crowton called a great game you'd blame the refs. etc. etc.

I'm not anointing Saban god at all. That's the problem with the Miles-apologists, they think that because people admire what Saban does, it must mean that they're building a shrine to him. And then they start popping out the really really hilarious sarcastic "Saban never lost a game! LOL!"

No one with any logical sense is anointing Saban god, or even proclaiming him to be the best coach in college football. I'm not, at least. However, I just know that in his second year, LSU's dominance was taken away--decisively so. He is owning the shite out of Miles right now. And before you start quoting the bullshite "10 wins per season" garbage, just take a look at the last 2 years. Again, I'm not anointing him god, and you're an idiot if you think I am, but he is owning us. The sad thing is, it's only his 3rd year.

I don't have as much of a problem with Miles as I do with some of the coaches on the staff. I wouldn't care if he left, but YOU CAN'T FIRE HIM 2 YEARS AFTER A NATIONAL TITLE. lol. Everyone knows the minimum 2 coaches that need to go and 3 IMO.

Saban was fortunate to come at the time when La had one of the best HS senior crop in the nation and many of that crop were coming to LSU because they grew up fans of LSU.

Louisiana was producing top athletes prior to Saban's arrival, unfortunately they were going to Miami, Florida State, Nebraska, Colorada, and Tennessee. They all won national championships with key players from Louisiana. Saban broke that trend and Miles has kept it going although it appears that there are cracks in the fence.

LSU has seen plenty of coaches who couldn't recruit like Miles. Moreover, the NCAA is strewn with the ended careers of coaches who couldn't recruit like Miles.

People can shots at Miles all day for questionable coaching/training/staff decisions, but anyone doubting that he is an incredible recruiter is a complete and total dumbass.

For what it is worth, every coach that has gotten the boot at LSU since 90, had the "great recruiter" label. When Hallman got the boot I remember everyone thinking our recruiting would go to shite.

WTF?

I would not call an overtime loss in '08 and what happened this year in T-town getting "owned".

I am a Miles supporter, appreciate the hell out of what Saban did here, respect what he's done at Bama, AND hate the fact that he went there. None of those are mutually exclusive.

I'm not a Miles apologist. What happened last year was ugly. This year, so far, is an improvement. I am concerned and anxious about the next two weeks.

One bad season does not make Miles. If the next two games are a repeat of last year, then we have a real potential problem. Until then, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

At the very least, he is not afraid to retool at the coordinator level.

DiNardo: He had a problem at DC; he was unwilling to fix it.

Miles: He had a problem at DC; he fixed it.

Can't argue with this, but will LM can Crowton and Studrawa after this season?

Miles wins the next 2 games, it's a good season and Miles somewhat answers critics of last year's 8-5, I-don't-know-how-to-pick-a-defensive-coordinator season.

No, he couldn't.

I'm still amazed at the level of hatred and envy that people have for Saban. He took over an average team/program and proceeded to put LSU football in a position to enjoy consistent success like it had NEVER seen before. He left LSU football in a much better place than when he found it.

I'd prefer to just say "thank you" and wish him well.

What years were we "dominant" before Miles got here?We have never gone undefeated since 1958. We won the SEC in 2001 with three losses. We won the National Championship in 2003 after losing at home without an offensive touchdown. I think many who complain about "how far the program has fallen" have an unrealistic view of where we were. Did Tubberville "take away our dominance" in 2004 when he went undefeated and won the SEC? It is interesting that you believe that Saban took away our dominance, not Urban Meyer. Urban won a National Championship in his second year. Saban won the West.

I've been watching/following college football since 1959, and I have not seen a better coach than Nick Saban. He's as good as Coach Bryant was at Alabama. I don't know whether Miles could've achieved at LSU what Saban did, but what a job Saban has done at Michigan State, LSU, and Alabama. I lived for a time in Birmingham when Bryant was the coach there. The saying then was "He can take hisn and beat yourn and then take yourn and beat hisn." My personal opinion is Saban can do the same and has proven it by beating Alabama with LSU and beating LSU with Alabama.
