I have wondered for years why Iowa hasn't fired Ferentz. Among terrible records it also appeared at times that he was recruiting from penitentiaries.

2010 8-5
2011 7-6
2012 4-8 lost six straight to end the season
2013 8-5 lost to LSU in bowl game 21-14
2014 7-6
All this in the Big 10 which was down for a lot of this time frame.

Now in 2015 he has one of the best teams in the country and is 12-0 with two games to go.

Miles proved he could turn it around after 08/09 with 2011.

Could he do it again? I think so.

Will it be soon enough? Probably not.

We're 8-3 right now, 9-3 if we didn't have a FCS game canceled. A bowl game win would give us the equivalent of another 10-win season. That would be three in the last four years.

I'm not seeing how Les is anything like the true mediocrity that is Kirk Ferentz.

Ferentz has been putting up mediocre records in a very weak Big 10. Miles has won, but not enough, in not only the toughest conference in American, but the toughest division in said conference.

Iowa is 12-0. 4 of the 7 teams on their side of the Big 10 have losing records. They avoided the top 4 teams on the other side of the Big 10.

In contrast, the WORST team on LSU's side of the SEC is 6-6 (Auburn) LSU also had to play the best team on the other side of the SEC.

Iowa is a good team, but their 12-0 record can be attributed completely to a ridiculously favorable schedule. Even with all the offensive trouble, LSU is undefeated if they play the same schedule

Then you know nothing about the culture of Iowa football.

People in Des Moines are thrilled at the prospect of winning 7 or 8 games on a regular basis. The resources available to that university pail in comparison to any school in the SEC.

Hayden Fry, the school's greatest coaching figure, only won three conference titles over a span of 20 seasons. His winning percentage was only 61.3% and he was 6-7 in bowl games.

Meanwhile, Ferentz has won two conference titles and is 6-6 in bowl games. His winning percentage may only be 59.9%, but it comes during a period of time in which the B10 is much more talented overall.

Please, don't ever use Iowa as a benchmark or standard for LSU athletics.

I've wondered this myself, considering they pay him $4 million a year. He's been there since 1999 and has all of 2 B1G titles and no national titles. He won't get one this year either.

I think the big part of the divide in the LSU fan base is between those who think this kind of a scenario is >50% likely to happen vs those who feel it's <50% likely to happen.

If you could guarantee something like this I think all but the most cynical and ardent Miles haters would be happy to have him stay.

Because Iowa and Louisiana are night and day difference in terms of resources available to their college football teams?

question is, will miles do anything next year with that #2 recruitig class? if the '16 class inks everyone we need to secure #1, will miles be around to see it to fruition?

i say, no

You don't have a clue, man. Iowa isn't located in Des Moines. It is in Iowa City.

Ferentz wasn't canned because of his buyout. I believe it is around $18 million.

And how old is Ferentz? About the same age as Miles was on 1/9/12?

Miles is on the downside of his coaching days. The last time a coach that was Miles' age won the BCS was in 1999

Yeah, last century

iowa had a ridiculously easy schedule. their best win was wisky, 10-6. the badgers had 4 turnovers. they played one team with a pulse and lost. although they did show up. gotta give them credit for that. ferentz is incredibly overrated and overpaid.

Now that 2015 record is 12-2.
Why you might ask?
TaxSlayer Bowl Jan 2, 2015
Tennessee 45
Iowa 28

Iowa scored 21 in the 4th quarter.

I have a brother in law by marriage that is a Iowa freak that didn't go to Iowa but anyway. I can't stand his bullshite with Iowa.

LINK

Look at the boxscore Iowa had the same players this fall. They didn't play anybody. The tried there hardest to stop Mich St on 22 play drive that took over 9 minutes but couldn't do it.

I'm so happy they didn't get in the playoffs.
