After watching the jerry bowl last year, i would prefer it to the cap one bowl. they had it so hyped, it looked like a bcs bowl atmosphere.

I am thinking Sugar Bowl. If not def Cap One bowl Against Either Ohio St. Or MSU. esp They both lose.

Only two teams can go, so who do you think they take between 11-1 lsu and 12-1 auburn in that scenario?

They'd lose to a team w/ 3+ losses in SECCG.....I think LSU stays ahead of em in the BCS poll

What I find disgusting is that if we win out our only loss is to the number 1 team in the country and we have played and defeated more ranked teams than any other teams ranked above us. How does TCU or Boise even get mentioned for a BCS game? I guess SOS doesnt mean a thing...

If auburn loses in the championship game, wouldn't we likely jump them in the BCS? Therefore, we get at large and they go Cap one or something.

It wouldn't matter. If auburn beats bama, they go 12-0 during regular season....if they lost to USC, you don't think the bcs would still take auburn over us, given that they beat us and went 12-0 during regular season? South Carolina would be the automatic birth. Only two teams can go, so who do you think they take between 11-1 lsu and 12-1 auburn in that scenario?

Yeah, that's a scary scenario all right. Still won't stop me from rooting for both Alabama and USC to beat the CheAUters.

No. If South Carolina wins the SEC CG, we are not an automatic Sugar Bowl invitee. Auburn has to lose to Bama and SCar. Then we would end up in Fiesta or Orange, possibly Rose but I doubt it since they love the traditional Big Ten vs. Pac Ten matchup.

My Projections

NC Oregon vs. Boise St
Rose Stanford vs. Ohio State
Sugar Auburn vs. TCU
Orange Wisconsin vs. Virginia Tech
Fiesta Pittsburgh vs. LSU (due to picking order)

Wouldnt South Carolina be in the sugar if this happened. I think we would be ranked ahead of Auburn at this point and could go to the Fiesta or Orange

Why is this so hard for fans to understand??

The media is tired of SEC dominance. The SEC is always a sure thing. They want the NCAA in new markets. Hell, if they could get S. Dakota State to the BCS, they would. They are propping up Nevada as a Top 25 team just so Boise has a Top 25 team that they beat!

If auburn wins out and i believe they will unless Newton story implodes and NCAA suspends him, (AU wont, too far in) No way they dont go to the Championship game (probable Heisman winner also). Assuming LSU wins out, they go to Sugar Bowl to play Ohio State (assuming they win and Wisconsin goes to Rose Bowl) in rematch of 2007 championship game.

Highly likely...but not "assured" by any stretch.

you very well know what he meant by 'assured'...if au loses to bama, then wins, we go. if they lose to bama and lose again, we go over them. it's as good as done for anything that's not 'guaranteed' and you know it.

if we win out we go to a BCS bowl as the top 4 are automatic. If au losses late like al they will fall behind lsu FOR GOOD!

This is incorrect. The "only two teams from the same conference" rule overrides a guaranteed at-large berth for a team in the final BCS top 4 rankings. This is CLEARLY stated in the BCS selection rules.

No, we are not automatic. If Auburn loses in the title game, South Carolina goes to Sugar and the BCS still possibly selects Auburn over LSU. Now, of course, if we are in the Top 4 and they aren't, we go.

Exactly the point I was making.

Oklahoma lost their conference championship game in 2003 and still finished #1 in the final BCS rankings. Everyone assumes a "late" loss is devastating, but obviously that is not always the case. Also reference us losing our final regular season game in 2007 and still winning the BCS championship.

If we finish in top 4 and Auburn doesn't, than yes, of course, we are an automatic at-large selection.

If SoCaro wins that game, we will not go to a BCS bowl.

really, why is that?

At 11-1 LSU has a great shot at a BCS Bowl. Our BEST shot if probably the Sugar if AU is in the NCG, but that's not our only shot.
