We have one corner, Ricks. He got picked on some but at least has the ability.

Yeah I dont think I have seen that really even through the Miles era. I was surprised by that even with our losses considering how lauded our dbs were coming out of hs. The front 7 looked pretty good though, but then again Miss's OL was probably their weakest unit.

Only person I’m really disappointed in is Flott. Doesn’t look like he improved anything in the offseason. The other guys have excuses. Still don’t think 26 belongs on the field.

Idk I think we should really give states skill positions some credit too, they looked extremely athletic last night and made some great plays even when the coverage was tight.

More than anything technique waa horrible. Corner playing press man and he is immediately beaten off the line without even putting one hand to jam him. Technically that's what I'm disappointed more than anything.

Ricks got worked also but did have a good pick. He was late covering Hill when they sent him in motion across the field from the far sideline and Costello found him. He gave up on the play and Mo missed the tackle. Mo missed several tackles on the day.

Ward was toast but coming off injury. #26 looked confused not ready.

We played entirely too much man with not enough pressure. Crossing routes and drags ate our lunch. Zone coverages would have worked. Most of the yards came after the catch.

Yep that's where most of Costello yards came from. Yac yardage probably was over 400 yards of his 600.

What really got me was the final TD for State, corners are playing off and they both still get beat over the top? I guess they were just trying to protect the sticks and didn’t think they would take a shot like that?

First off, the Mississippi State quarterback was making great throws out there.

Also, I don’t know how else to say it, but their receivers are better than our defensive backs. They are faster, stronger, more physical, and made the play on the 50/50 passes.

Ward made some good plays (example: dove and knocked the ball out of the receiver’s hands) and then would get burned on the following play. Head scratcher.

Flott was typically in good position, the receiver just made the play 80% of the time.

I’m not knocking Evans too much. He’s a transfer and new guy. He probably wasn’t expecting much pt.

I don't know about Miss' OL since it has a lot of out of state players but Miss State's OL has some star power on it.

A 5 and 4 star OT,an UA AA at OC.Now their two OG's were 3stars but one is a projected to be picked in the NFL draft next year and the other had some SEC offers which included Florida.Leach walked into a gold mine vs what he's use to.

I have them losing for sure to Bama and UGA but after watching the rest of the SEC teams this weekend they could very well finish #2 in the West.

Texas AM will get blown out if they show up vs Leach like they did Vandy.Auburn didn't look very good either.

did you notice how young the corners were? in the early going they were covering the receivers like a blanket, esp. Flott, but they wouldn't turn their head around. if the DB is not looking, the receiver is open.

at the end of the game they did look really bad. Stingley would've made a helluva difference. but that's the way the ball bounces.

I saw that our young guy have talent but they've got to work on some fundamentals and technique.

vandy is just what the doctor ordered.

There was also no safety help over the top.

Stingley was out. Flott was the only one on the field with any significant experience in the SEC. Ricks will improve..

Jay Ward is okay; he is just not able to match up with WR2s and 3s in the SEC. But he's a good depth guy.

Evans’ NSU background showed for sure.

The young man is a solid practice player and special teams guy but no more. Not in the SEC. I know people in Thibodaux were getting some warm fuzzy, but the kid had no business being on that field.

Evans isn’t young.....he’s limited in his skill set. Period.

Put Vincent and Stingley out there, and we win that game fairly easily. We just lost too much talent this offseason. I pulled up last year's opening day roster and counted 24 difference makers gone! That's way too much to replace, especially when one is an all-world QB.

Tiger fans are going to savage the coaches all year, but the truth is that Joe Brady and Bill Belichick couldn't do much with the inexperienced players we have. This will be a rebuild year. Once Jamarr Chase, Shelvin, and Vincent left, our chance to compete for an SEC Championship was gone. Then Logan and Stingley miss the game? No way!
