I agree. There were opportunities in LF and at 2B that could have been managed to allow Bourg, Sanchez, Thornhill, etc. more time and swings. Not failing to mention, Walljasper occupying a batting order spot the majority of games.
I just don't think that the line-up should have been locked in as it was for most of the season.

Les Miles has lost complete control ...

i think a lot of fans felt that way,,, put Bourg or Sanchez in the game...when Quinn's batting started to fall off, we were all expecting to see Bourg..she is a great 2nd baseman. I guess Beth felt that her hitting was not good enough, but i think she has much better form at the plate than Quinn. Sad to see those girls go. I liked all three. Blessings to them, hope it works out where they go.
Hope it works out for Corbello, too. Selman didn't do too great at Baylor, and didnt get much time on the field, either, but she wasn't going to play much at LSU.

Can she field a bunt?

Beth described Connie as their heart and soul and emotional leader. People who think she's getting benched, especially next season with all the vets we're losing, are way off.

This.
Quinn MUST cut down on her errors. This is a fact. But for all of her miscues, she made some great, and important plays on defense. If she doesn't catch that ball in the bottom of the 7th in game 3 of the JMU regional, there probably isn't a WCWS. And she is one of the best baserunners I have seen. In game 3 of the Washington series, she turned a single into a double in the bottom of the 7th that led to the tying run..and LSU won in extra innings. There is more to Quinn than what you see on the stat sheet. I agree, she isn't going anywhere in the lineup.
As for the 3 transfers, I am not surprised and I don't think there are hard feelings. I always thought that Corbello could really be a dominant pitcher in a conference like the Southland. I hope she lands at McNeese and helps them continue their great tradition there. Lockwood would be a nice player somewhere like SLU, and so could Bourg for that matter.
For the people calling for Bourg to play more this past season...I always defer to the coaches who see these kids 20 hours a week in practice and who like to win games and make large sums of money. If Torina thought Bourg could help her during the season, she certainly would have been on the field more. Pretty simple.

McNeese's HC just took the UVA job. Wonder how that affects the transfers. Also, if Piankastelli feels betrayed we can help her out.

saintsfan usually spot on with all this..hate to see transfers but hard to argue with a head coach who has taken us to 3 of last 5 WCWS. 300+ D1 softball teams and we are consistent top 10 finishers, does not get much better than that.

I think it was the right decision to keep Quinn there, she's a very important leader for this team. She had a lot of success at the plate early on then kinda cooled off, which is expect considering you play much tougher competition. Regardless of being a leader or not, if the errors aren't cut down or defense isn't cleaner early on next season I definitely think Beth will make a change. Some of these errors have led to us falling behind early, which made it much tougher for us.
For example in the SEC championship game, if we make the routine play, Smith gets out the inning and it's a completely different game. Not saying we would have won but that error completely changed everything.
I think Quinn can do it though, she needs to be much better with routine plays, she has shown she can make the tough ones

Bourg is good looking. Was pissed not seeing her play like last year.

It will be interesting to see if any starters get benched. Hope not but Beth is with these girls and sees things none of see. Gotta trust the coach will make the right decisions. If she has missed this past season, cant be by much considering how far they went.

You guys are really missing something here. Mark my words: Bourg may have been the best middle infielder to EVER play at LSU. Yes, big words I know but Beth will seriously miss her. actually she may well never know what she had in this kid. Giant mistake. Look back at how she contributed, watch her play. Beth needed this one. Finally, something is not just right when this type talent watches another second baseman make these errors from the bench this year. Makes me wonder what is wrong because something is

Holy shite, you sir are completely wrong. Bourg was good defensively, she did lack consistency at the plate, she's a good player but Torina unfortunately had this team stacked with many other players just as good or better. There was a reason Sanchez got more looks at 2nd early on this season, it's because she's the better player. She's very good defensively but at the plate is full of power and is much more polished then Bourg is. I will miss Bourg, she represented LSU well and has been nothing but class but losing her will not impact this program in any way.
People are taking all these transfers so seriously, like there's something wrong with the program. Selman transferred last year to get more playing time. It's the same with Lockwood, Corbello, and Bourg, the roster is just so stacked, it's tough to get playing time due to the talent level on this team already.

Corbello was great when we needed her but with Hoover, Walljasper and Smith ahead of her now they are set for 2 more yrs.
Sad to see her go, but yeah, with our other talented pitchers, she was never going to get anymore serious playing time. I hope she does stay in state and goes to ULL.

Bourg has a real gripe as she is better than Quinn at 2nd just doesn't have her speed. That one will hurt the most. Quinn had almost 30 errors this year
Tough decision...Quinn has her moments, but it's as if every 2nd or 3rd game, you know she is going to have an error, like inability to pull the ball out of her glove!!

C'mon man. She contributed and if she started I doubt she would've have been a negative but her fielding % last year, granted a small sample size, was barely better than Quinn's this year(.933 vs. 917). Also Allison Falcon was quietly great at 2nd(.985 her senior year).

Love how people like this Copenhagen Pete just magically appear out of nowhere. Looked back and it's his first softball post of the year.

Nope. Having a wonderful day.
Notice you were quiet during the WCWS, maybe educote couldn't change alter egos from his phone while trashing our players and coaches to the OU fans in OKC.

Remember this...Ed Ducote is nothing but a sad human being...he uses his handicapped child to stalk the girls. Look how he doesn't talk about Nikki Dawson anymore...bet her dad told him to stay away from his daughter. This guy is a poor excuse for a man.
