Not necessarily. Alabama’s offense relies on the big play. Take that away, and they don’t score as easily and quickly. Limit their possessions but don’t give up the big play and you can have success against this offense. They are really good. But they haven’t been tested. They are not ready

Average numbers tend to go down as you have more attempts. Very rarely does a QB throw better as the game goes on. Defenses adjust to what the QB is doing and give different looks.

So Tua plays the first half of every game as good as the best QB effort in a full game that any team has given up in their other 7 games.

I thought this was supposed to be a "Tua's overrated" argument?

Sure seems to me like Tua thrives on big plays and it shoots his averages up.

His knee is not hurt. Why would Saban play him in blowouts if he was so hurt. It;s ruse by bama to get more ref protection.

This is an awesome graphic. Thanks for sharing it. For those who are saying that Tua’s numbers are lower than they would be if he played an entire game, I went back and checked and he actually had essentially the same number of passing attempts as Fromm and twice as many as Bryant.

If you remember that Tua is only playing half a game and you look at these stats, the TDs and Yds/Att tell you that Bama has had a fair amount of big plays in the passing game. This isn't something we didn't already know.

In the end, we need to limit big plays by their offense and make them drive the full field every time. If we can do that and hold our own against their running attack, we have a good chance to win.

I hope you guys are not putting all the eggs in te basket on the fact Bama has not played a good defense. Speaking of skewed. The kid(Tua) is a generational talent. Rationalize if like however. You have to get pressure- if not your DBs are "dead". They can only cover so long. Those are future NFL receivers.

Right. Some refuse to live with the fact this kid is special.

My takeaway from this is to defend the long ball. Without all his 80 yard touchdown passes he is a normal qb.

But he’s not normal. Because he can complete all those 80 yard touchdown passes. So we must focus on shutting that down, just so we can see how else he could beat us.

Tua did only play a percentage of those games but there sure are a lot of TDs for all the QB's

LSU Has played 6 top 50 Defenses and Bama has played 6 Ranked worse than 75th - Run and tell your friends

Good job on gathering the info. I wouldn't worry too much about his yards/attempt. It's high because he has the benefit of literally heaving the ball up in the air and having one of his receivers run underneath it and then keep running for 70 yard TDs. LSU won't allow that with near the frequency they are accustomed, if at all. In fact, our center fielder Delpit might be welcoming that.
Now I will be the first to admit that I haven't watched a lot of Alabama football this season because their games are so boring, but when I have flipped over to them, I see defenses that look like they have given up after the first score. It's like all the talk, praise, and hooplah made some of those young players think they had no chance to begin with. That's not going to happen Nov. 3. After the first pick, sack, or deflected pass, our D will will be grinning and Tua will be looking over to Saban like "what do I do now?"

The only stat that matters is TD/INT and Tua is killing it. Playing just one half.
