If that's the case you think the committee is going to leave out 2 of the top 3 teams in RPI?
The committee has generally taken conference wins highly into account for both seeding and making the tournament.
Top 8 seeds last year finished #1-5 in the SEC and #1, 2, and 4 in the ACC last year.
NC State finished 3rd in the ACC, but lost a bunch of OOC games.
2023 was similar: ACC #1-3, SEC #1-4, PAC12 #1.
I expect the top 5 SEC teams in the standings to get Top 8 seeds after the tournament., unless a team that was a game back from 5th sweeps the SECT. (Tennessee for example)
So it seems that Texas will likely win 1 or 2 @OU, so they are comfortably a top 8.
Arkansas and Tennessee will split, putting Ark at 19/20 wins, also a top 8.
LSU should take at least 2, taking second/third at 19/20 wins.
Then it gets messy.

Yes, I got carried away, just a tad LOL.

If we sweep Carolina, and get to the finals of the SEC tournament, we stand a real chance to be the #1 overall seed. I don't know if that's what you want or not. But at the moment, I feel like we're legitimately a top 4 seed.
Us, tx, Arky, and UGA are all very solid top 8.

We need to win one at USC or not get swept to lock it up. I don’t think some of you realize the brand influence LSU has in college baseball. We are the Notre Dame of College baseball

3 of these teams have a losing record vs quad 1 teams that should be a huge red flag

Well 2 of those 3 are on the west coast. The other is Coastal and I don't think they really have a shot.

What has LSU received recently that wasn't earned? And nothing this year isn't earned.

LSU should schedule 1 marquee series a season.
Have you even looked at the schedule? I can think of 5 top ten at first pitch of the series off top of my head.
Mike says wth do you want?

Losing two in a row doesn’t help.

All results from yesterday and RPIs are updated.
I'll come in tomorrow after every series is complete and update records, RPI, SOS, quad records.
Key take aways so far.
Auburn and FSU are putting themselves in a tough spot. UNC has really helped itself out.
From an LSU perspective, we need to win today. Otherwise it may take a win or two in the SEC tournament to feel comfortable.

Nice to see us bounce back Friday after one of the more frustrating games of the season on Thursday
I’d like to roll today, especially Milam and Curiel, and go into the postseason with some momentum on offense.
While I think we’ve already got a Top8 locked up, a win today and it’s rock solid and we’ve put ourself in position for a good postseason at home.
The SEC is definitely getting 5 national seeds this year, maybe even 6, and no one in the country - specifically and most importantly the committee - is leaving LSU out of those 5 SEC national seeds.
With a win today, I think we’ll end up the 2 or 3 national seed. A loss today and maybe more like the 4-5 national seed

I'm not ready to confidently say that. There are a few teams who are making their case much stronger this weekend. And two that were squarely in hurting themselves, but if we also hurt ourselves by losing this series we could be pushing the issue.

No one with a Quad 1 losing record should be a national seed. End of discussion

All records, RPI, SOS, quad records updated. I'll list conference tournament match ups tomorrow or Monday.

Here's my takes.
- Tennessee was removed from the list. They would have to win the SECT to maybe just get back into the conversation. Almost wanted to add Bama, but they lost the series to UF. They would also have to win the SECT if they even want to be mentioned.
- I see 2 absolute locks. They are 100% top 8, and nothing that happens anywhere else will change that. Those two are Texas and Arkansas.
- I have 4 teams that should feel really good about being a top 8. It's hard to predict if the committee will force a west coast team in, or limit the number of SEC teams. If something like that happens somebody has to be pushed out. Or if a few teams from the next group make a big run in their conference tourney and make a strong case. My 4 here are: Georgia, Vandy, LSU, UNC
That leaves us with Auburn, Oregon St, Clemson, Oregon, FSU, Coastal, UCLA trying to take the final 2 spots, or push out one of the above 4.
- Auburn has an extremely strong resume. If they don't lose the series to Ole Miss, I have them in my higher group.
- Oregon St/Oregon/UCLA- for either to get in, you will have to leave off a team with a stronger resume. But does the committee give a west coast team a seat at the big boy table? UCLA I almost left off this list completely. They don't have a strong case.
- FSU/Clemson - both solid resumes. And if the committee wants two ACC teams in and one of these makes a deep ACC tourney run then they could fill that spot. For either to get in you are probably leaving off an SEC team with a better resume.
- Coastal - could probably be left off. Their resume just won't stack. They have a ton of wins and a solid RPI because of it though.

I honestly don't even think UCLA is in the discussion. Oregon won the season series from them and has better metrics in most catagories.

LSU is #3 in the SEC. The 3rd best record and is ahead of Vandy in tie breaker. Or just say the 2 are tied at #3. Either way that gets you a top 8 seed. If some of those other teams wanted to get ahead of LSU they should win more SEC games. LSU isn’t getting left out. The record in the best conference in the country carries more weight than anything else.
