Is hitting .271, we are hitting .323. Against Liberty scored 3 and 4 runs, managed 3 earned runs on Furman and Albany. By your criteria, cant hit.

Is hitting .299, we are hitting .323. Against Long Beach State managed a 1 ER and a 3 run game. Didn't manage an earned run against Utah Valley. Scored 2 against San Francisco yesterday. By your criteria, cant hit.

Hitting .324 as a team, exactly 1 point above us...hey you're getting somewhere now. But oh wait! Managed only 3 runs in 8 innings against KSU, 2 runs in 8 innings against Coastal Carolina's ending weekend pitching and 5 ER against Akron who is one of the worst baseball teams out there. By your super specific, nitpicking criteria, they cant hit as well.

hey now everyone calm the frick down. stony broke is 10-0 with the best pitching core in the west. in addition when talking about confrence play even DRO agrees with me. lsu is number one and will advance to the CWS.

florida has dropped off the grid....ark's gatorade has caused them to lose four strait since its all watery and no flavor. ole miss will be like south carolina last year.

and miss state has decided to carry a sign to all games at home and away that says " believe". must be in relation to justin bieber? im told it works for now but it is bound to get burned.

espn says " lsu baseball is the real deal "

so watch out son....watch out....we on the rise!!!

i dont follow?

just because i express concerns doesnt mean that i dont want the team to succeed

to think otherwise is just wrong

based on what i have seen so far, i will be impressed if this team averaged over 4 runs/game in their first 12 SEC games

UK is a lot more effective so far this season when it comes to run production, especially earlier in games

Based on what? Do you have their BA with RISP vs ours? Ours was .370 before the 4 games played last week. That is pretty effective in terms of run production.

They have also played 6 road games compared to our 1 road game. That means they got an extra AB in all of those games to produce more runs.

Other than their 20 run against Niagra and their 21 run game against Akron their production hasn't been anymore outstanding than LSU's. Do those 2 games seal the deal for you? Those huge outbursts against those powerhouses. Would that make you feel a lot better about LSU had we put up 20 against Brown?

Runs scored in innings 6-9 count the same as runs scored in innings 1-5. LSU has outscored its opponents in innings 1-5 by 36 to 10.

And scoring late when a game is close shows a lot of character.....

Nah brah, if you cant get all your runs in the first 6 innings, you cant hit.

based on batting average

not such a great stats. you dont win game with batting average. you win with scoring runs. using earned runs is white noise to this discussion.

we had tough times scoring against nicholls, brown, maryland and lamar. show me where the teams i've listed have had such a difficult time putting runs across the plate. at least zona can claim LBSU and South Carolina can claim Clemson on the resumes.

Classic rantard move. Spew nonsense about LSU being bad, get argument shite on with facts, say you hope you're wrong. Very well done.

to Mizzou,

What is this going to show you? They aren't any better than Maryland or Lamar or ULL. They are 0-6 with a team batting average of .190 and a team ERA of 5.25.

Yeah, let's go ahead and overlook all the runs/earned runs I talked about for each team in several different games and when they scored them. The same type of thing you did.

Batting average does not = run production

Some teams score by drawing a walk, stealing a base, and getting one hit to drive them home.

Other teams get two or three hits in an inning and still don't score a run.

Scoring runs is the only thing that matters.

of course they do, but if you want to compare the quality of starters and reliever at schools like maryland, byu, and brown; please be my guest

I could very easily see this team leading the conference in runs scored in SEC-only games this year. (EDIT: And this will be in spite of Mainieri's offensive style, which is generally terrible at producing runs relative to the number of times his players gets on base.)

The biggest issue that I see is pitching depth going into the playoffs, but even if the depth doesn't materialize, the team will still have an outside to compete for a title based on its top 4-5 pitchers.

At least that's what my magic 8-ball is telling me right now...

I would say batting average is the most important stat in baseball. Just saying. Maybe era which ties to batting averages.

Do you know much about USC Upstate? The big and powerful wildcats had to muster a 4 run rally in the 8th inning to escape with an 11-10 win against them. So not only did they need a late rally, but they gave up 10 runs. How many times have we given up 10 runs this season?
