coaching change and timing

We can rant all we want, but timing has a few things that have to fall into place:
1. The players have to want the coach out to a degree, its important and it doesn't get discussed much.
2. Someone great has to be available
3. That great someone has to want to come
4. That great someone has to have at least something lacking in their current situation.
5. What the fans actually want means so little in the process that it is a complete non factor.
I played golf recently with a former major league manager who said it best, "Management told me that they "heard the fans outcry for my removal" but in the end they got rid of me because as the owner of the team put it "You MIGHT be able to change the team moving forward, but I KNOW you can't change yourself"

I agree with the points you listed, but fan and player "wants" are probably in the same category. That category is: Management DGAF About Either.

Internal interim from within now:
A) would likely lessen impact on recruiting
B) rest of coaching world would know position is vacant
C) after that clusterfrick at end of last year, no coach will believe it until it's actually done
D) this is just a continuation of last years clusterfrick, not new. Just because the records reset doesn't mean the same points reset. So why not now. Just fixing the mistake of last year.

No, the players DON'T have to want the coach out. 18 to 20 year old players don't make decisions worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
In a time when the dollars were a lot smaller, Bob Brodhead had the right take. I hope Joe Alleva feels the same.

Arnsparger's proclamation that the "Head Coach and players will be given input into bowl game selection" invoked a simple response from me: No they wouldn't.
As Director of Athletics, it was up to me to make the decisions which would prove most advantageous to the Athletic Department as a whole. That did not include placing a million-dollar decision into the hands of a football coach, or subjecting it to the whims of a group of twenty-year-old football players. That went out when the 1959 squad voted not to go to the Sugar Bowl. Sacked--50.

your rational thinking is not what most posters here want to hear; ergo, it's flawed.
they think we can just pick up the phone and offer any amount of money the new guy of choice want and he'll come. and they get mad at those that disagree.
those idiots never hired anyone in their life. and they probably are barely a score old yet they know everything.

1. The players have to want the coach out to a degree, its important and it doesn't get discussed much.
The players want to win.
2. Someone great has to be available
This is LSU. It would be a top choice. There will be someone.
3. That great someone has to want to come
Yeah, no one would want to come to a school who puts more players into the NFL and recruits top 5 consistently
4. That great someone has to have at least something lacking in their current situation.
Money or Desire to be among the best
5. What the fans actually want means so little in the process that it is a complete non factor.
We ALL wanted DC Aranda last season.. We got him.. I know I personally had him my #1. We also ALL wanted Orgeron to coach the DL when Chavis left. We got him. We may not get all our wants, like a temporary Steele.. (that was so late and unexpected though (Chavis leaving) which is why preparing with time is ideal) but we have been getting some of our wants! ha
