Coaches evaluate players and their roles not the other way around

Honestly, if Lance stayed home to contemplate his future at LSU, he has made his bed...he's done
He did what that QB at NCST did which is quit on his teammates for selfish reasons... keep a redshirt and he was quickly told to go play elsewhere...
I hate it, but this is something you can't let into your culture.
The fans are going pull back if this keeps up...the ncaa has allowed more freedom for players than the NFL permits...

It is a delicate situation honestly. Defacto free agency is a completely different animal.

It does happen the other way around all the time. It’s just that you don’t hear the player talk about it or make it known so much

I hope Kelly purges those who try to dictate when they will play and how much they should get paid.

Understand i want a guy like Lance...but staying back is really a terrible look for all involved.

Yes and no. It will all depend d on how the conversation goes. This isn't Coach O, here. It's Brian Kelly. He's quite a bit more professional and business-oriented than O. I expect him to sit down and have a truthful conversation with Heard, just as he did with Jayden Daniel's last year(and others, I'm sure). He will lay out his plan for Heard's future. No fluff. Then he'll let Heard decide if he's on board or not. If it's all about money, then Heard will be gone. I don't see Kelly losing his locker room because one guy wants to dictate the rules.

The kid is a kid, being offered a bunch of outside offers, deciding between being an adult who owns his future and a kid who continues to be told his dollar figure. Put it to him simple and watch him walk away. Shut the door when he leaves.
