Pitching wasn't a big problem, but I'd say it definitely needs to get better. Team ERA in SEC games was 4.96 last season, 6th in the league. With the arms on the staff we need to have an ERA in the low 3s
Also in SEC games we batted .291 (t-3rd) and scored the 5th most runs. Losing Mikie is huge, because he was leading or top 3 in most offensive categories. I expect Jones to improve this season and Katz to continue the way he ended last year.
As long as the bullpen comes through we can be a pretty good team

Anyone else worried about Raph being out of the line up? I wasn't aware he needed surgery.
He will be fine to bat. The question will be if he can play in the field, but they expect him to be OK there.

HIGH SCHOOL
Selected in the 41st round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds ... 2011 all-District and all-City selection and a participant in the Louisiana High School All-Star Game ... Posted a 4-1 record in 2011 with three complete games; recorded a 1.70 ERA in 37 innings with 57 Ks and four walks ... Recorded a 5-2 mark in 2010 with a 1.11 ERA and 84 strikeouts in 50 innings.
LSU coach Paul Mainieri on Baranik:
"We first saw Carson pitch in his sophomore year of high school at one of our camps and quickly identified him as one of the best pitchers in the state. At the beginning of his senior year he was featuring a fastball that ranged in the low to mid-90s and quite frankly we considered him a potential top draft pick. Unfortunately for him, Carson developed some minor arm problems that prevented him from finishing his senior season, and that set of circumstances probably dropped to the 41st round and he wound up coming to school."

I recall Hanover struggling in the lead off spot. I could be wrong, but I remember a tiime last year and I think he was leading off. Hopefully he has improved and will become a solid leadoff guy for us. He definately has the potential to be solid.
Few years ago PM had Hanover in the cleanup slot
