Who are the 4? Lawrence, Fehoko, Shelvin/Ika, and who???

I think it’s a good idea esp against Fla and Miss St. It seems like our 3 man fronts don’t do well against these types of offenses.

I was thinking Cherry or Fonua - more of a traditional 4-3 DE type guy. Logan would be more of a DT type player, but who knows at this point?

Probably Chaisson as a standing end.

To what do you refer to? What general offenses are you eluding to?

Is the U.F. head coach (former head coach at M.S.U.) the think tank or source of the implementation of and I quote "against these types of offenses." ?

Spread option type offenses seem to give Aranda’s defenses more difficulty, esp if the QB is mobile. Fla in 2018, Miss St in 2017 come to mind.

For pass rushing sets is like to see:
DE: Chaisson
DT: Fehoko/Logan
DT: Lawrence
DE: Travez Moore/Cherry/Fonua

We are going to play many combinations. The guy who plays the most will probably be Chaisson. When we go four down he’ll move from standup to hand in the dirt. The other three will be a big rotation with Logan, Lawrence, Fehoko as the top dogs. Ika Shelvin, Farrell will likely get the next most snaps. And Thomas and Jenkins as the third tier.

That eight man group holding down three line positions will keep our defensive line fresh through every game.

Has anyone heard anything about Nelson Jenkins this offseason? Would love to see this guy give us some good depth

This might be better for us. We still have the same recruiting mindset we did under chavis. Speed speed speed. Guys that are tweeners.

We just haven't recruited the dline well for a 3-4.

You are forgetting Andre Anthony, played a lot last year and did really well coming off the edge! And a senior look for him to shine this year!

The 4 man fronts are needed to stop the run more than the pass. We do fine rushing out of a 3-4 with Chaisson off the edge. 4 man front refers to 4 down linemen, not LBs.

But LSU recruits hybrid OLB/DE's. Guys that have the athletic ability to play LB and the size to play on the line. Mingo, Montgomery and Aden Key were twiners that could do both. Mingo was a little undersized, Montgomery was more the size of a DE but wasn't 280 to 300 pounds. Just depends on what you want the defense to do. I could see Chaisson playing in a 3 point stance.
