Obviously losing leadership after 2019 killed us. Myles Brennan getting hurt killed us as well. We win 3more games with him healthy. This year goes much differently if he’s a healthy returning starter.
You guys enjoy shxtting on O but honestly he was nowhere near the horror story you guys are trying to remember. His recruiting was next level and we had a great run under him. I think it’s sad that a lot of you guys want to pile on. 2018 & 2019 are better years than any years of miles or Saban. That 2018 beat down of #3 Georgia was one for the ages. The complete pummeling of undefeated reigning champ 2019 Clempsum was ecstasy. Let’s just move on. The AD wanted a new guy so let’s see what the new guy can do.

2019 would differ with that analogy.

Have never "piled on" him.

But it would be disingenuous to avoid the real reason he's no longer here just for approbation sake.

He's not the first to lose his career because of the present state of the nation, and he will not be the last.

His end came as more the result of politics than sports acumen.

In retrospect, the only time I seriously second-guessed him was when he went for the field goal instead of the touchdown only inches from the goal line against Notre Dame, followed by Aranda having absolutely no answer for that QB who came off the bench and led them on two long drives to beat LSU.

Now that QB is here with the Saints.

The problem is largely that Coach O was a lame duck coach for all of recruiting season. Until that happened he was recruiting at a top level. When no one knows who the coach will be or which of the assistants will stay, it’s impossible to bring in recruits except for locals who grew up ride or die LSU. Thank god they have a 5* QB in the backyard.

Could you please explain this?

When all this first started there was a post on here that stated that the reason for the lack of effort and why some on the team turned on Orgeron was due to him "mistakenly" saying something positive about Trump during a team meeting.

Is that difficult to accept? And beyond the realm of possibility?

Politics has insinuated itself even into sports now.

So that's where we presently are as a nation.

I'm not going to let this shite go until the roster and culture problems that O and Pomansky cultivated are a part of the past... I curse them everyday...

I found the whole Coach O hiring process to be so ripe with incompetence that I wondered sometimes if the two hadn’t secretly cut some type of deal for the position. lol

No, the real reason he is not here is he could not put a competent coaching staff around him after 2019.

Nahhhhh. We were the victim of the perfect storm. The success of the 2019 team meant we lost two coordinators, the seniors (including the best college QB ever), and most of the junior class, as they all cashed in on their opportunities. Then COVID took out the most talented sophomores. We entered he 2020 season with maybe 4 starters from the rear before….then injuries took us down further. No one could piece together a competitive SEC team from the scraps left behind. O couldn’t recover from that, especially with a marriage falling apart and Title 9 clouds overhead. Just a perfect storm of events that no one else experienced.

so true, people so quick to forget that Orgeron put together the greatest team in not only LSU history but college football history in just his 3rd season with the 2019 edition of LSU football. Maybe was time to let O go but can't help but think how different things might have been had 2020 not been a covid year and if 2021 wouldnt have been such an unbelievably injury riddled year. Sure, O stayed in partying and pussy chasing mode for too long after the 2019 season and that is on him.

But just think if we would have been able to concentrate on getting NIL together instead of working on getting a new coach and with the extra 17 million to spend on NIL. Recruiting class and transfer class would have been off the charts. Plus Daronte Jones was already starting to figure out how to run a SEC defense by the end of the season, even with a depleted defense.

All results are his fault, including the 2019 natty. Stop with the “next level” recruiting “ shite. It’s about needs not just getting a ranking. O did a horrible job managing his roster. The most important factors are that the guy couldn’t handle the entire job and knew it. You have to be able to interview and evaluate coaches. He screwed this up from day 1. He allowed a complete sleaze ball to be his right hand man. No interview for coordinators is fireable offense. 2020 was a mess mainly because he was asleep at the wheel. You’re paid to manage tough situations. He didn’t. Then going into this year he proved pussy is undefeated. Sorry he’s just not cut out for running a power 5 team for any length of time.

He entered with a clown resume and left as proven clown
