Coach O went down to the crossroads and made a deal with the devil for 2019. This is our penance.

Ummm. Hate to tell you, but LSU is not far from Mississippi state level right now! And we’re stuck with an A$$HOLE for a coach with a giant buy out! Not going to get any better and to be honest I’m pretty much over the drama that is CFB and the NIL! It’s not the same and it never will be!

Calm down. You said we only had 38 scholarship players. That is incorrect. The 38 number has always only related to the players who dressed for the bowl game.

Also, not having an AD worth a frick to intervene or advise couldn't have helped either.

Woodward fired him once it was clear things had gone to shite. What more was he supposed to do? He's an athletic director, not a career counselor.

Aranda and Ensminger could have been in charge with the HC position vacant and LSU would have still been undefeated NCs.

Meh, I've been as critical of Orgeron as anyone, but he evidently did something right in 2019.

Burrow didn't get emotional for nothing when talking about Orgeron during his Heisman speech.

So say we kept O until this past offseason and went 7-5 every year, who do we hire?

Lanning was hired the same year as Kelly. Oregon got him on the cheap because he was unproven. Those kinds of hires usually don’t work out. Now that he’s proven, Oregon has the resources to hold on to him. LSU wouldn’t have pried him away. Who else you got? What up and comer do you think LSU should go get? Cignetti? His track record reads like a poor man’s Brian Kelly. Kiffin? He’s had a pretty good two years but still not competed for the SEC title while mortgaging the future. Anyone else you might want to go after has only had success at a lower level just like Kelly.
You won't get a legit answer.

because O was the only person on the planet that would give him a shot sight unseen.

it worked out gloriously for us, but let’s be honest here.
Ed admittedly had never even heard of Burrow and just took Busch’s word on him. He then went all in on recruiting him.
And O sitting in a room with a recruit is as good at selling himself and team as anyone out there.

so Burrow is of course extremely thankful that somebody gave him a chance to play.

but the reality is that O is extremely fortunate that a guy whom he knew absolutely nothing about turned out to be the GOAT.
