But once again he mismanaged the qb situation just like while he was at LSU

I think Pete Carroll was great too, but even he only won one NC, which is surprising with all that talent he had. USC would lose to some unheralded team like Cal or Oregon St almost every year.
So it happens to all coaches except Saban recently.

Depends, is it another 2-loss mulligan NC?
Posted on 11/1/13 at 6:07 pm to RedTigerRulz
I assume it's been said but you sunshine pumpers do realize that 1/9 is the main reason he doesn't get his due right?
Posted on 11/1/13 at 6:27 pm to RedTigerRulz
How long are you willing to wait for CLM's 2nd NC?

If he had won on 1/9
he would not be getting nearly as much shite as he does (you'd still have the perennial negatigers hanging on his every bumble) today. he was so close.
i will give him his due. he already deserves his share of credit but isn't immune to ANY criticism, which is where the posi and negas clash.

07 gave us something 03 couldn't.....an undisputed national title

I don't even know what this means
That's not surprising to me.
LSU was voted #1 in the Coaches, BCS, and AP polls in the same yr for the 1st time in LSU history.
Who gives a flying flip what it took or didn't take?
At the end of the yr, we were judged to be the best team. Screw all that BS bout who loss to who. Why would you even care bout that simple chit if you are an LSU fan.
It's always been a tad strange to me how some "LSU fans" seem to get off by find fault with "their team" winning a national title.

if 1/9 was a close game I would be much less critical.

Yes - if he had won on 1/9, his image would be totally different.
However, he was a total puss on 1/9 - just stood on the sidelines with his arms folded and looked like he was on drugs or in shock. Not only was the team not close to being prepared to play the game but he did Nothing during the game to give us a chance.
He had his chance and beyond blew it. Almost like a subconscious self destruction that he did not deserve to or was afraid to beat Saban. It is hard to accept any other explanation.
Then he gave it away last year on 2 lame defensive efforts at the end of both halves.
He needs to beat Saban this year and keep every Louisiana recruit home this year. That is the start to getting us back on top.
I doubt anything changes and we basically need to accept a team that is a consistent 7 -5 to 8 -4 with an occasional 9 -10 win season. He will never win another NC unless he gets back on path by beating AL this year. We finish 8 -4 with a bowl loss and several more recruits that we are counting on will end up at AL.

Not directed at you personally .... but I call BS on anybody that does not support CLM now, but says, "Had we won 1/9" I would give him a pass.
BS - either you think he's a good coach and good for LSU or you don't - losing that one game is not the "end all be all".
He will win another NC at LSU, if allowed to coach out his career in Baton Rouge.

Watch what happens if he bombs against AL then AtM. We end up in a 2nd rate bowl behind AL, AU, AtM and OM in the West.
Then see what happens in recruiting.
He is never winning anything again unless he cleans up on the rest of the Louisiana recruits this year.

If he won 1/9 with either of those two qb's, then he would deserve all the respect.
His inability to recruit qb's for a few years, not developing talent, and sticking by poor coaches to long is what got me on the fence.
I'm waiting to see how Jennings turns out and what he recruit over the next two years to make my judgement.

If he had won 1/9....arguably the greatest season in CFB history (wins over Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl champs, a #1 vs #2, a #1 vs #3 win) yeah he would've had a pass. if he had won 1.9, i'd give him all the fricking passes he want. If I had a front yard, i'd give him a pass to shite in my front yard.
If miles would have at least coached a respectable game that night he would have a pass with most everyone
That night showed most people he is in over his head when he has to adjust and make changes on game day

We end up 4 - 4 in the last 2/3 of the season and the great recruiting class will not be so highly ranked. Kids want a winner and being 5th in the SEC West is nothing special.

Pete Carroll won two national championships at usc.

Seems to be doing well in the NFL.

I still get pissed about the other teams that fked up that season and let Bama low crawl back in on 1/9. Hate that worse than Bama donkey punching us in the game.
Bama had blood in their eye in that NC game and with that D, pinheaded JJ would have had to walk on water to beat them. I would give miles a pass if he would have at least given JL a CHANCE to step on his dik in the game!
