He would get a pass. As it stands though, he doesn't. It's the difference between winning and losing. He didn't win in a season that could've went down in NCAA history. Instead, most of us want to forget how it all ended. That game highlighted all the negative attributes of Les Miles and to make matters worse it's one of the most embarrassing NC games I've seen in awhile. It wasn't even competitive and he should feel ashamed he gave up on his team during the game.

Yet the coach that needed a second chance that year is the GOAT.

I love this place. I really do.

Again, I hope you are miserable for eternity.

I think he needs to win another championship and not in a 2007 manner. If that situation happens in any other year, Les has 0 championships and a whole lot less support IMO

You are right, Nick Saban should not be considered the greatest coach in the history of NCAA football, because he lost to the second best team one season.

If you are talking shite about coaches losing games in championship seasons, look no further than Leslie, only "champion" with 2 losses

The people on the fence would have been swayed. But you know people would bitch at the first loss last year questioning him again. Expectations would be even higher.
But its just a game. We need to move on. This season is far from over with at least 4 games left.

In any other season bama doesn't go in 2011 and 12. Took a rematch in 11 and a team yo be on probation in 12. Took USC to lose to a shite Cal team in 03. You need luck. If there are 3 undefeated teams at the end of the year it will take 2 teams to basically have the luck of the other teams they play. Or the luck of getting enough votes.

So now LSU is the "second best team" in 2011? How many chances should LSU have gotten to prove they were better than Bama in 2011? Just one? They won it. Two? Yeah, they lost the second time. Boohoo. Three? Yeah, it won't happen.

I'm not talking shite more so than I am literally laughing my arse off at our miserable fan base.

Riddle me this, why didn't the GOAT go undefeated one time at LSU. He had a shot in 2003 and lost.

Did it once in 2009 with some help.

The GOAT's standard is literally 2-3 times easier than Miles, but when Miles loses under this standard, his own fan base is ready to rip him to shite.

Why don't you go root for Bama instead? You will be a lot happier. Your team will only play two hard games a year (lose one at home), never get called for holding, and will be praised constantly in the media when they inevitably choke despite the easy path to the championship.

Then you can come back and be an LSU fan when football season is over so you can cheer for Javi Sanchez to be fired if the baseball team doesn't go undefeated.

If he had won on 1/9....would most folks give him a pass for infrequent clock blunders and questionable game planning?

I made a deal with some of my sunshine pumping Les Miles loving friends that if Miles won the NC on 1/9, I would publicly admit at our next tailgate to our entire tailgate group that I was wrong about Les Miles and that he is the best coach LSU has ever had. Needless to say, I didn't have to fall on my sword. Several of my friends are now former sunshine pumpers after 1/9.

One other important point:

Your hero would still only have one at Bama if it weren't for an undeserved Mulligan and Ohio State players getting tattoos.

All you Bama lovers love to rip on Les, when Saban is clearly the one with the horseshoe buried up his arse.

If he had won 1/9....arguably the greatest season in CFB history (wins over Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl champs, a #1 vs #2, a #1 vs #3 win) yeah he would've had a pass.

if he had won 1.9, i'd give him all the fricking passes he want. If I had a front yard, i'd give him a pass to shite in my front yard.

This, but he didn't. It was arguably the most embarrassing game in program history.

Les is the best coach lsu has had. 1/9 has nothing to do with it. The other 114 games he coached does.

Yeah losing in the bcs title game is embarrassing. When 120 other programs would have sold their sole to be in that game.

We had to win the sec to go. Bama didn't. Its pretty fricking simple. We deserved to be in that game, they didn't. Let's lose to bama every year and see if we get voted in.

Did you attend any games during the Hallman era?

What about the UAB loss in 2000?

What about the UGA game in Athens in 2004?

and probably all 120 other programs would have moved the ball past the fifty yard line at least once before the 4th quarter.

There is no way to spin 1/9 into a positive. LSU completely shite the bed and got embarrassed on the biggest stage.

haha, you are talking to a person who has attended about 200 basketball losses in person over the past 15 years. Don't have a problem with LSU losing, I have a problem with Les Miles and his representation of the university.

Nick Saban is the greatest college football coach. Period. So what? Why is it so hard for LSU fans to accept that? It doesn't make you less of an LSU fan by admitting your opponent is better than you. Kentucky is better than LSU at basketball, so what.

My respect for a great football coach, has nothing to do with my despising of a functional retard who stumbled into a fortunate situation.

In 2009 it took lsu to lose its starting qb, Tb, and cb for them to beat us. It took codys fat fingers to beat utenn. And it took uts starting qb to go down in the title game. Saban has lucked into every fricking bcs win he's had.

That retard won more games with sabans players than saban did.

I can acknowledge saban is the best coach in the country. Why can't I acknowledge that les is the second. If not 3rdto him and urban.

Actually you despise our coach cus saban coached at LSU. If he didn't, you wouldn't have these feelings. And if saban signed drew breed, he wouldn't be at bama. But once again he mismanaged the qb situation just like while he was at LSU. Saban has is faults too. Like managing to get 8 commits in the 2005 class. What a sign of a great coach. To quit on the team that is ur current employer. Such a stand up guy he is.

Now who's fking whining???? GTFO here with this shite. It is what it is with Bama....it aint right but there aint jack any of us can do about and continually pointing it out makes us look as bad as "negas" whining about Miles.

Fixing either of these situations isn't tenable.
