Jesus. How unbelievably stupid can a newspaper be? They will get a lot of clicks for this one article, but newspapers in general are barely staying alive. Pissing off 80% of your readers with a play like this is not good long term.

Totally agree!!! Seems indefensible running this story today and don't understand why the Manship family signed off on this timing wise if they still own the paper. Kick Clemson's arses!!!

Please identify one statement in the article that is factually incorrect.

LSU was gutted by cuts in the Jindal years. Do you deny this? Do you deny that we are still climbing out of the hole? I thought the headline was bad, but the article itself was spot on.

Is it not true though? After 16 budget cuts and then on top of that a hypocrite Governor like Edwards. The guy almost dismantles the tops program, threatens to shut down the football program, yet shows up to all banquets and ceremonies like he played a part in something. Dude needs to take a seat and know his role.

The only way to stop this crap is don’t buy that trash rag and don’t ever click on their website. I stopped many years ago. Sad because State Times/Morning Advocate was a quality publication years ago.

How dare they print stories you don’t want to hear. It looked to me that the article actually bemoaned budget cuts to higher education.

ETA: clumsy timing, though

This was all about politics and the totalitarian leftist democrats wanting to raise more taxes

Our constitution only allows Higher Ed and Health care to be cut. Other programs have dedicated funds or are off budget

The advocate editorial team could care less about LSU football.

But LSU is older, less expensive, has more students, is more diverse and graduates students with less debt than those who earn degrees at the South Carolina school.

So students get a degree less in debt, diverse student body than Clemson. If Louisiana would invest, LSU already gives the opportunity, just needs more resources? Either way the only reason to get the advocate is the front page when LSU wins the title!

The only surprise is it's not Rabalais. Probably too busy stuffing his grill at the presser and beat him to the punch.

Media make their living running down good things. They are filth that do nothing but hurt our society.

Thank God for the interweb, Tiger Rant and sites like Dandy Don.

The Advocate has degraded significantly. They are situationally awesome, but predominantly full of the brown stuff

What complete horseshite. I will NEVER read that shite paper again.

No, no NO. Blame the Advocate for running that shite. So unnecessary to run our flagship down that way. I want to shite in their mailbox.

I do not disagree with you or the factual contents of the article. Again, I am appalled that our hometown newspaper would, in any way, reduce LSU on this day. There would never have been a comparison of LSU and CLEMSON academics if they weren't competing in an athletic event....academics and athletics are forever connected.
Clemson is academically rated higher than LSU, so what. As I see it, LSU is rated higher than other schools and Clemson is rated lower than other colleges as well. The author of this article was absolutely looking for a response, and did so during a special time for REAL LSU supporters! It has nothing to do with a football game, and the ADVOCATE took advantage of the current atmosphere to make a point....that everyone probably was already aware of.
And yes, LSU can improve academically, like many other colleges today. I support LSU, always have, always will....born and raised here and LSU Grad. I was simply offended by the timing and provoking nature of the headline on the FRONT PAGE of our paper. Everyone here in Louisiana knows about the LSU funding situation. At least the athletic department is doing their share to help resolve the university financial issues.
Thanks for the response.

News flash, the Advocate is part of a syndicate that has nothing to do with Baton Rouge.

It's 100% corporate. There is no more local interest in it.
