Yes Torina blew it and there was no guarantee of pulling it out even with the HR, but this ball was clearly fair at 6:39

I cant see that it was fair by the angle from youtube. Is there another angle?

What are basing this off of? Noway that camera angle proves it was fair…I’d imagine the umpire, who’s suppose to be standing at home plate has the best angle and he saw it foul.

Thanks for posting this. I was pretty convinced that it was a HR live. But that video clearly shows the ball going over and behind the poles. If you freeze it at the right point you can see the ball almost a foot inside of pole right as it goes over the fence. It’s actually not even as close as I originally thought. It’s such a shame to have incompetent umps and no system to get these calls correct.
Also you can tell the outfielder is running and stops under where the ball crosses the fence. She looks back and jumps to try to catch it. She doesn’t stop right there if the ball slices in front of the pole.
Actually pissing me off now that they got this wrong, it’s so easy to see.

It was probably fair over the pole and the ump thinks it foul if it lands off of his pre-conceived line of view.

Saw a video where the ball clearly is clearly in the front of the pole as it flies by. Foul.

It was clearly foul. Clark didn’t even really leave the box. She knew it was foul too.

It really doesn’t matter. It’s softball.

It was foul. The person with the best angle was a LSU fan sitting right at the pole. Watch the video and look at his response when the ball passes the pole.

LSU should have beaten them and was clearly the better team but the best team doesn’t always win. It is what it is

Your link shows a foul ball. Ball clearly went in front of the pole.

Fair or foul, the umpire was out of position. Mechanic calls for going down the line.

quote:do you not see the yellow ball enter the frame at the top inside the foul pole around 6:39-6:40? It’s only a split second and i never noticed it at all on tv yesterday, but when the ball comes into the frame at the top it is pretty clearly fair.

Oh well but does look pretty clear if that pole extended to the clouds it easily would’ve been a HR

LSU fan reaction behind the pole told me it was foul.
And the batter never even left the batter's box. If she thought it was fair she would have been celebrating.

Maybe just the angle that makes it look fair then because if you pause that YouTube vid frame by frame around the 6:40 mark it comes into frame at top inside of the foul pole

ESPN Rally Cap personnel said it was fair too on their show. Simple physics. Got to make the foul poles taller I guess to make it reviewable...

The tiger fan in the yellow shirt on the berm, had the best view and he turns away in disgust as the ball flies left of the foul pole.
