The problem is we don't have a good defense nor do we have the studs on the OL to play the type of game Les wants to play. If Les takes that same tired arse game plan to the Auburn, UF, Bama, Ark, Ole Miss, and TAMU games, we'll be lucky to win 1-2 of those 6 games. Hell - we may not even be able to beat Kentucky playing the way we played last week.

So when you have Defensive struggles, you open up the offense.

Thus Harris should be in shotgun formation running all plays from that position.

At least defenses wouldn't know if it was run before the ball was snapped.

I mean a little trickeration is good

the power I. we just run it too much
We don't run the power I at all. That formation has 3 backs. Just do an image search.

what that says to me ... is that good coaches adapt their plans according to the players abilities

LSU doesn't have those guys this year either, yet we still continue to try to do it. Over and over and over again. Chip got an NFL job...

I agree. We run an I formation, not a power I. If we went with a true Power I, Miles would get beheaded by a ranter.

You run the plays that best suit the team and players that you have. LSU has demonstrated that it cannot move the ball effectively by running the ball 60% of the time.

It's a Musburger error that gets repeated on this board a lot.

Good post. I agree and it is why it is still run in the NFL. But the coaches get paid a lot of money to understand the personnel that they have and run an offense that maximizes production. It's still on the coaches for not making changes based on personnel.

"My point: we have much bigger issues right now than the power I and the quarterback debate."

Yes and no. Of the issues that can be readily improved with adjustments, the offensive approach and QB are pretty important. It is a cop out to say that we should not try to get better in one area just because another area (e.g., DL or LB's) is not as strong. Sure, the D played poorly the other night, but there is nothing wrong with winning a shootout now and again. Hell, we almost did it IN SPITE of the approach Saturday night. What is wrong about trying to be the best you can be on both sides of the ball?

Running all 4 plays from the 2 yard line and gaining zilch, is an issue

yeah, the issue is the O-line could not execute...had they blocked to allow a 2 yard run (on 4 plays) we wouldn't be having this conversation....it IS NOT about not passing it really is about no executing the blocking assignments and controlling the line....sure a pass would have been "different" but there was no guarantee it would have been any more successful....and the only input Miles had in that series was to go for it on 4th down.

We're not good enough on the o-line. The system works, it always has and it always will. You just need good o-line play. Everything is upgraded on the offensive side of the ball with a competent o-line.

I agree with this - the o line is the root of the problem
