but, how wouldn't that be at best a lateral move (and that's a stretch coming from the NFL)? what bones would Les have to throw? an Asst. title? what else?

There is talk that Gibbs and the defensive staff are done in NO.

you mean the shaved gorilla act? the one where he's amped up on redbull, diet-coke, and cracklin?

Yep.

I don't think we would have to worry too much about him leaving anytime soon. Good S. La boy.

Plus he may just like the college game more. They're two different animals.

What I Like About O is I think he want to be at LSU (IMO) Plus he has said he wants to get back to recruiting. No one has taken issue with his ability to recruit. We need Chavis cause he is the X and O guy...the man with the scheme. They seem to fit togeather.

maybe y'all are on to something. if Les thinks Bebe's a good fit to coach the DL, so be it. i'm down. there's no denying his track record coaching DL's in CF.

i just don't want anything rushed for expedency purposes...just be deliberate, screw all the noise and chatter, and get the right guys... which is what i think Les is/will do.

Chavis is supposedly interviewing with Clemson tomorrow and hasn't heard from LSU. I wonder if his agent has though.

Anyway, beginning to wonder if Chavis isn't a real candidate here.

You may be right.
He may not want to come here.
Then again to interview with other schools could get him more money at LSU. Who knows ..only his agent..
We will have to stay tuned.

I hear that Chavis has definitely been contacted and the chance of him at LSU as DC next year is very high. Coach O will be D-Line Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. I expect all of this to happen, but in a manner that will be respectful to the departing coaches

teebox, you hit the nail on the head. his recruiting and his aggressive style is exactly what we need. If we let him get away to Tenn. we will regret it.

Why hasn't Miles hired Chavis? Tuberville will if he gets MS job!

Not likely...

Chavis will end up at LSU, Clemson or the NFL, or may even be in talks for the New Mexico HC jobs or MSU.

If he's a DC its a team that can at least win their conference and allow him to make a Pelini like move into HC.

The worst thing stalling is doing is driving up the price. Or if Clemson offers to let him bring Caldwell/Brooks/Slade, then you guys might have to make room for one or two of them.

Probably won't have to... but Brooks and Caldwell are very good.

I won't be surprised if Caldwell is the DC at Ark.

The LSU job is better than MSU or Clemson. If LSU is interested, he's a lock.

Well, yes and no, it's a better job than Clemson but Chavis is a native of South Carolina.
