Hasn't the defense been hit by early nfl draftees more than the offense?

we're experienced at DE, LB, and DB

we did lose 2 starting DTs early, but we should have aged backups. our staff completely missed in recruiting for 2+ years and we have nothing

and on offense, only WR was affected. our RBs are experienced. our QB that left was a 5th year Sr. and our WRs haven't been bad

i dunno if les was ever a guru. chavis churned out some BEASTS at LB back in his UTenn days, and did develop a few great tigers (namely minter)

consistently over miles' tenure. we caught a break with an all-time great in reid, who came to LSU CFB-ready

Yea les is far from a guru but its funny how poor or consistently underachieving that unit has been in his tenure. Former olineman and oline coach. Wowsers

Even herbie was touting this years group as best in the country

actually, he doesn't. he likes DTs that are pretty good sized for the 4-3, and can keep his smallish LBs (and somewhat smallish DEs) relatively clean. everything flows from that.

see Brockers, Cheese and Al Woods at LSU, or Haynesworth, John Henderson, Harrell or Dan Williams at UT. there have been exceptions with some smaller DTs (relative to the guys I just mentioned) who have turned out to be good as well.

our current crop of DTs aren't that small, as much as they're just not good, or not good yet. holding out hope.

recovering from his ACL injury still, I guess. I never thought he was that good anyway. he seems like basically Hatcher at safety. solid, but nothing special. and not fast/ kinda stiff. much like Martin.

The bottom line is that our coaching is old and stale. The game is changing and our coaching staff is incapable of changing with it. They're too old and they've had too much success with their systems. They do not see what we all see because they have tunnel vision and are not able to watch as many other games as we can.

Yes - Chavis and his staff are part of the issue. They are supposed to be developing the DTs and MLBs, which at this point looks like a total FAIL.

That was the Offense last night. Defense was 1st and Chavis, second and Chavis, 3rd/4th and Chavis.

I hate to keep bringing it up but when Welter was on the field we gave up the most yards and points. When he was finally taken out of the game the defense actually played pretty good until they got worn out. And one TD as on Bower for not doing his job and getting the QB.

TaderSalad- you are correct. There was a head coaching change. That is why he was let go. Lane was not going to take him over his dad.

This argument is terrible. It has worked for 20 years and has worked well at LSU. The fact of the matter is, we don't have the horses up front this year. It is very simple.

i mean it's not like that doesn't apply directly to miles/chavis also

failure in recruiting is on the coaching staff

yes and no. in real time it looked that way, but from a replay angle, it looked like Bower did a good job turning it back in and could've made the tackle, but Kwon prob should have. except he was being held/ couldn't get off a block.

bower handled the read well, but got shaken out of his boots by marshall. LBs were in no man's land, just like the easy TD pass to the TE

the issue is development. for a LB guru, he's sucked arse at developing LBs consistently

the staff has missed at DT recruiting/development also. even ego/freak were seen as busts b/c they didn't develop well. we've downgraded

our DEs are ok. we're not going to get mingo/sam every year, but this D sort of requires that level of DE to be elite

and our secondary is just a mess. has been since reid left. our CBs are OK but our safties?

All of this. Chavis gets hard for recruiting safeties too big too cover and LBs too small to do shite.

Haley has blood in his hands as well
