Of course I knew Voogd was a joke, but the others are legit.

I'm trying not to read too much into this. Martin was talking to an out-of-state writer who was inquiring about Menzies. Perhaps Martin was trying to say Menzies is not a candidate in a nice way? Blame it on geography? (praying this is true ...)

Translation: get ready for 4 more years of mediocre basketball, because it's gonna be Johnny Jones whether you like it or not, chumps.

The only people who fit that descriptions are Jones, Floyd, Davis, Prohm, Ed Conroy. Am I missing someone?

Already making $2.8 million at Marquette (per Hannegriff).

Coach K, Pitino, and Roy Williams could express an interest, and there'd still be no way LSU comes close to paying that.

I know this is sarcasm because those guys wouldn't have interest but we could easily pay our hoops coach 3 million.

They won't pay that for Buzz Williams, though.

The administration likes to put up a big front about supporting basketball, but realistically, they're not fooling anybody.

Not mad at all.

I just think that those who are pushing a middle-of-the-road Sun Belt coach on us don't really have LSU's best interests at heart. It's all about feeding their egos.

If they're going to bring Johnny Jones in, they might as well have ponied up an increase and extension and kept Trent. That's how I feel about JJ.

We paid pretty well for Trent.

I'd rather take a chance on a lower level or mid-major coach than take a chance who hasn't had sustained success at a major schoo. LSU probably wouldn't be the place for them either. So if they can't recruit where they are in basketball talent-rich areas now, then they will catch hell here.

If we can't get one of the big dogs, only being 3 or 4 candidates, then we need to really open up and broaden our search. F ties to LA or LSU.

I saw him when looking up Theus. Good record, but his recruits weren't all that great. Theus looks like he did better recruiting in his one year there. Both have ties to Louisville and Pitino. That's as close as it looks like they have to having "Louisiana connections". Which is to say they don't have any.

I think that was Trent's biggest problem. He had no in roads in this area and didn't bring in anyone who had any. That's why Livingston as an assistant seems like a slam dunk.

I agree buy my point is he was getting around 1.1M or 1.2M in 2009. At that same time, Boeheim was at 1.3M and Calhoun about 1.5M. (I could be off slightly but you get my drift).

I actually think this admin. would pay big money for a bigtime coach (not saying we'll get one). We wont throw big $ at an unproven guy, but I dont think we'll be too cheap about it.

$13 million practice facility (almost double the cost of the new buisness college) says otherwise. Also they tripled the salary of Caldwell to get her for WOMENS bball.

JJ has 5 20 win seasons out of the last 6 and will burn up the phone line of every louisiana recruit. Hes not the best option out there but he will work much harder than trent did.
