This is a tough one. Because he is probably a 4-6 rounder right now.
If he comes back and has a better season in 2011, he might crack the 3rd round. If he has a monster season, maybe round 2. He lacks elite speed to be a franchise, first round pick.
If he comes back and has a Charles Scott-like senior year, he might not be drafted.
I really admire him and hope he does what is best for him.

Good post.

TOO slow. Needs to work on speed to be drafted. May make it as a FA.

He won't be higher than a 4th round pick even after his senior year. Speed is nowhere near where it needs to be.

basically there is NO REASON why a lockout would make juniors return to college,
Except they want to PLAY! And if they go pro, yeah they might borrow some coin from an agent, but there may not be a season.

I think he would stay IF he had the grades. He isn't putting enough time into school. From that, I think/know he is gone as long as he gets drafted

Ridley knows Ricky Murphy is going to get granted an 11th season of eligibility. He also knows that this 11th season will be Murphy's break out season. Therefore Mr. Ridley has probably already concluded that he will be riding the pine if he stays, and consequetly chosen to forego his Sr. year and test the waters of the NFL draft.

its a win/win for himself and LSU is he chooses to go.
i dont think he will be drafted high. Teams look at YPC more than they do total yards. Going over 1000 yards when you get 230 carries is really not that outstanding.
PLus every NFL team is realizing that they can wait to draft a RB, pushing even more talented RBs than RIdley back in the draft.

and he is more likely to leave due to money. if he waits until next season he will get less money due to the new restrictions.
This makes absolutely zero sense unless you are predicting that he would be a high pick.

But I will say, KW is primarily a starter in the NFL because Washington's top 3 backs are injured.
KW is now running backup to James Davis.

Ridley is our best back IMO.

RB Stevan Ridley
"Playing in the Cotton Bowl in Cowboys Stadium is going to be an awesome experience. Any time you play a team outside your conference, especially a team the caliber of Texas A&M gets you fired up. They come from a competitive conference in the Big 12 and I'm sure they will pack the place with their fans nearby. I hope our fans can grab up some tickets too. It's going to be a special experience playing in a stadium that size. We get to play two games in a row there and open up the season next year there (against Oregon). I think that will be huge. We can soak in the atmosphere and remember what it's like when we head there next year."

I agree with this, but I think it makes the opposite point. With Mett running our offense, defenses won't stack eight in the box. In a balanced offense, Ridley's YPC will undoubtedly go up. He's better off returning.

I agree with what was said earlier. Win/Win situation if Ridley decides to go pro.
His stock may get a bit higher, but not much and if he has a decent combine, he'll be a 4-5 rd pick. That said, if he returns, he's likely to see his carries cut by Ford et al. and he won't have the same production he had this year, he'll have more wear on his body, etc.
From LSU's angle, it would suck to lose a great Tiger, but it's very possible that Ford is the better back, and we still have Ware, Blue, Gore, Hill, and Hilliard waiting in the wings.

Don't forget that Ridley went over 1000yds against defenses that stacked the box to stop the run cause they knew we couldn't pass worth a crap.

Ridley has a bit more "shake" in him than Ford, Ware, or Blue, so if he goes, he'll be missed. Those guys bring other assets to the table.
Haven't seen Gore, Hill or Hilliard so I don't how they compare.
I think Ridley can be successful in the NFL because he has good quickness, though I don't know how high his draft potential will be for the reasons other posters mentioned above. That being said, if he goes I hope he makes a ton of money and has great success in the NFL.

It needs to be noted that his family has money. He is not from a poor background like many of these kids. That has to help him choose to return.
