seen some places where they feel Chad is only entering the draft to get some immediate money because of his kids, but would rather be playing baseball.

and isn't the NFL deciding this year about possible Rookie contract salary caps? He might be trying to get in before that happens

He could ultimately possibly be a 2nd round pick, but I say he'll be a 3rd round pick.

That probably has something to do with it. Another thing is he probably just didn't want to be in school anymore. I know grades kept him from playing baseball his freshman year.

CJ was playing baseball his first yr. then split off to do spring football. His academic advisors told the coaches he was struggling with the dual sport activity and it was mutually decided that he would forego rejoining the baseball team that year once spring fb practice ended in order to concentrate on making the grades.

Many teams are looking for players like him.

Really?

Yep, talking with a draft guy, Chads name is on a # of teams board. Each team will see something different in each player. A run on FS and who knows.

We will be as good or better at the safety position this year.

Much of that is because of how good the corners are, but Chad was not a great cover guy. He was a leader and a solid team guy and person. His aggressive hitting was tremendous.

That being said, I do believe that in certain coverage packages CJ would have been replaced by a cover guy and that is all I meant by not being full time. It was no knock on his play, it was more a compliment on how good the guys behind him are.

Surely you realize how much better it made the safeties by having PP at lockdown on one side of the field.

This doesn't sound like an early pick --

"Teams that interviewed him at the combine - they're allowed 60 interviews - and one team said it was the worst interview they had of their 60."

I will bite. Teams and agents play games especially to move potential draft picks up and down the board to suit their needs.

So, it was one team's worse interview. Who did they interview? Why was it the worse? Was it Jones' 60th interview of the week? Hell, print the quotes a reporter picks out.

Any other players of note had "the worse interview ever?"

Regardless, Jones is a competitor and can handle pressure. Is he young? Yes. They is why he will go in the 2-4th round. A team will get him cheap for 2-3 years.

I still feel like it was a mistake to go to the draft. He could have played another baseball season, see where that took him, and then played football again and really improve his draft stock.

Jones would have went in the first round next year compared to going in the third this year if he's lucky.

he will not be picked higher than the 3rd round... anything higher than that would be a miracle IMHO

Apparently there is some question about work ethic with Jones and Lafell. They also both had really bad interviews. Some are blaming Miles for a slack program, but Miles gets blamed for everything so ...

Chad should have stayed another year imo.

An LaFell should have left last year.....

They draft to play football, not do interviews.

Some teams will overthink. With the right teams, both should do well in the NFL...

Why? So he can lose playing time to a more talented group. Struggling in school already. Will go by 3rd round and support his family. Chance injury and strike?

I don't know Chad personally. Obviously he is a great natural athlete who doesn't have to "work at it". Based on what I've seen he has the ability but only steps up to the plate when his back is against the wall. But he does step up. Good luck Chad.
