Should the committee say in the final rankings that the teams are too close and everything is too convoluted that this year, 6 teams will play in an NFL-style playoff bracket?

Do they have the authority/balls to make that call?

As it stands now, Clemson/Alabama/Georgia should play Oregon/Minnesota/Utah/Oklahoma. Winners of those should play LSU and Ohio State in a semifinal.

You can’t change the rules mid season.

Sure. They could probably extend it to 16 too. And eliminate conference championships. And make a new rule that if you're a QB wearing #9 you aren't allowed to throw forward passes.

Unless you're Bama. Then you can rewrite the narrative and interpret the rules in any way that suits you.

What rules are being changed? If we want one true champion, why not making it fair season-by-season?

If teams want to take chances and play ooc games (aubbie orgeron, lsu texas, alabama duke) they should be credited. Teams like clempson who play a pampers schedule could defend their title ONLY if they are deemed worthy. It would allow flexibility to put a team like Tu-lane in if they were great for their conference.

The more we get tied into things, the less able the Committee will be to make the best decisions for CFB.

I bet ESPN thinks we do all this just for them. Sheep can think too friends.

That's not happening this year, but there is a lot of logic in top 6, 1 and 2 have a first round bye. Either top 6, or p5 conference champs + 1 wildcard.

I would rather see them shorten the playoff to just 1 game.

ESPN has the rights to the CFP until 2024. After that every network can make an offer to own the rights to the CFP which should result in expanding it to 8 teams. It's all about the money.

There should be a 4 team playoff for the right to face Alabama in the championship
