I forgot about the Liberty Bowl..I believe either Kentucky or Vandy would jump up into that game, probably Kentucky. So Vandy would go to the Gaylord Hotel Bowl and Papajohns.com would have to fill a different school in there.

Now, one interesting long shot is if the Capital One wants to pick up Ole Miss rather than UGA because of the differences of how they closed their seasons.
That would stick LSU back in the Cotton (
) and UGA in the Outback.

This is how it should be....
Florida - BCS bowl
Bama - BCS Bowl
UGA - Capital One
Ole Miss - Cotton Bowl
LSU - Outback
South Carolina - Chick-fil-A
Vandy - Gaylord Hotels Bowl
Kentucky - Liberty Bowl

I don't think the Papajohns.com bowl even has a SEC team pick this year.
EDIT: Nevermind, I see what you were saying now.

This is a great point. I don't think the Capital One will do this because I'm not sure they are convinced Ole Miss would travel well over there. I think Ole Miss would be perfect for the Cotton Bowl.
I can't believe LSU has a decent shot at a NY bowl. LSU certainly doesn't deserve it. But under the scenarios I've analyzed, I don't see how LSU CAN'T be in a NY bowl. I guess it is possible though.

Hahaha..this is a work in progress. I should have thought before I posted, multiple times...my bad

I am hoping for the Outback Bowl, but my gut/official prediction is the Peach.

BigboyTiger seems to be dead on. The selections have a lot to do with how well the teams fans will travel to the respective bowl games. LSU has a solid reputation traveling quite well in recent years. Outback Baby!

Yeah, if the bowl in question is a BCS bowl.
But the most recent analogy to this season is the Peach bowl, and we travelled HORRIBLY there. And that season was a 100 times better than this one.

This is true..but keep in mind that the fan base felt completely fricked by the bowl selection that year.
It will either be Peach or Outback for us. I think we will show well in either game.

they dont invite teams early anymore do they? all these bowls wait till after next weekend? or might we know before then?

Navy and Hawaii are exceptions.
Since the BCS takes conference champs and the next best, other bowls have to wait. Look at Illinois last year. They made the Rose Bowl. What if another bowl had invited the next best Big 10 team and then the BCS did not take Illinois? Next Sunday it is.

Well, by your line of thinking, who does??? UF, Bama and UGAly will all be in an upper-tier bowl. From those teams there is a HUGE dropoff. Ole Piss is 8-4, probably headed to Dallas. LSU and SC are 7-5, with LSU winning at SC earlier this season. You have Vandy and UK at 6-6. That's it. No SEC teams available for Indy or Pizza Bowls.
LSU will either head to ATL or Tampa, my thinking is Tampa.

Who went to the capital one bowl that year anyway?
Posted on 11/30/08 at 1:40 pm to StormTiger
well..they have to wait for the BCS selections before they can reach out because they will know the pool of teams they can select from.

Wisconsin vs. Arkansas. Total joke that Ark got in there before us...

True, but from the SEC, it is a given that Bama and UF will both be in the BCS. One will be in the MNC game, other in the Sugar.

Outback has not choses an SEC West team since 1997 (Alabama). They just don't pick SEC west teams. They will pick the best available SECE team. LSU is the second farthest school from Tampa. If the Outback ever decides to choose another SECW team it will be Bama or Auburn becasue of their promimaty.
They've always had Florida, Georgia, or Tennessee to pick from. Now they have to chose between LSU and USCe.
