No brainer: it's Fields. If he can get on base even once, it's a bonus.

That walk he drew was like winning the lottery. Of course it was like it never happened the very next pitch when he was caught stealing.

Centerfield tomorrow, game 2

with Gausman pitching offense is at a premium. Sit Fields.

It's actually the other way around. Gausman will shut them down so you can afford to play Fields. Katz in center is not an option. People need to forget that. Foster doesn't bring anything more to the plate than Fields does and Foster is a much worse defender. It's going to be Fields.

I'd have to disagree. With Gausman pitching, you want the best offense you can bring to the plate, because 1 run could be all you need. Fields has been garbage at the plate.

As of late, this is true. However, he found a bit of a stride there after he was plugged into the lineup.

Foster has speed but not much else. And I hate to say that because he went to my high school.

Maybe he'll be better next year. I agree with Boat on this one.

Stony has too much power and they have some great swings. Much as I hate to admit it, we need Fields in CF even though he's a dead bat.

If you may only need one run then there is no reason to weaken your defense. And we're going to need more than one run, but we still need Fields in CF.

Fields is just as bad defensively. He doesn't cover ground, overruns every ball, and has a lollipop arm.

i didn't see the play but wasn't there a play that if fields was in the game he would have caught it and we would be talking about the possibility of going to omaha today instead of hoping to win one game and than focusing on the other game.

I disagree and here's why. With KG pitching you need your best defense out there because you don't want then scoring any runs on him. What if he give up a two out double and the next guy up hits a fly ball to center that fields would routinely make a play on an foster fumbles it. Runner scores. You don't want that to happen.

Fields plays, and you hope to either use him for a bunt or he walks.

I agree with you and Boat on this.

Why does Arby stand so far off the plate? He looked like he was two feet off of it yesterday when the pitcher was consistently getting that outside pitch over for strikes.

If I knew he could get a bunt down consistently, I'd have him just go up there and try to bunt his way on base every other at bat.

My thoughts exactly. Bunt almost every time and the infield will play in and he can maybe slap a hit thru them every now and then.

Especially with fat Willie on third, I was wondering why we didn't try to drag at least once with Hanover or fields
