The kid's Dad sounds like a jackass. Hey here's a hint, keep him away from an area that may produce potential contact.

I see a lot of idot Dad's that sit their 12 year olds along the 3rd base line at pro base ball games, and don't even pay attention to what's going on. I had to get the crap knocked out of my hand to stop a fould line drive from smacking some little kid in the head just the other night, because his clueless Dad was sitting there drinking beer and not paying attention.

I haven't read this thread but my wife read it and got really ticked. Her conclusion was that the dad should be taken out and shot without trial. Harsh? Perhaps.

Peachtree, did you demand an apology from the batter? Of course not, part of the problem I have with all of this apology stuff is that the Dad pays to sit in those seats, close to the action. That is part of the excitement of sitting courtside. If you don't want to take a chance that a player will end up in your lap, then don't sit in the floor level seats. Besides, anyone at a sporting event knows there are certain risks involved and you must pay attention to what you are doing. The sports try to keep spectators safe, but accidents do happen (i.e. foul balls can hit fans, golf balls can hit golf spectators etc.). That is the kind of thing that happened here and no apology was required. However, I think it was classy for Davis to respond in the way he did.
