Apologies don't contain the word "if"...so he really didn't apologize.
He essentially said "You got mad because of what I did and that makes me feel bad."

As regards this stupid statement, you might want to have the facts next time you say something like this.
McD's had settled or dealt with 700 previous claims regarding its coffee being too hot. They had been warned by the Shriners Burn Institute their coffee was too hot! They served their coffee at 190 degrees in which 3rd degree burns, which she suffered in her groin and thigh areas, can result in 2-7 seconds. This was 30-50 degrees HIGHER than any other restaurant. The 79 year old lady originally asked for $20,000.00 and McD's told her to frick off! So she sued!
A jury awarded her $160,00.00 and punitive damages of $2.7 million which the judge reduced to less than $500,000.00 which they settled on.
I wonder if it was you or one of your loved ones, particularly a child, how you would have felt had it happened to you?
What happened with Glen Davis is NOTHING like what happened in that case. I don't think Glen has anything to apologize for but it makes him look good and sets an example of good sportsmanship and puts public opinion on his side. It's all good for him.

I get kind of tired of hearing people use this example. Her story is legit if you actually know the whole story, and read the court files.
FYI she didn't ask for a million dollar settlement the jury awarded it to her. Then the judge went back after the media hype and overruled the massive compensation.

An example: During a heated argument at work you tell a coworker - in front of the whole office/crew/shift - to "F*ck Off!"
You have three choices:
1) Do nothing, and stick to your guns. You meant it and he/she deserved it. You might get fired but the person had it coming.
2) Offer a forced apology. You still think you were right, but the man is coming down hard. This apology sounds a bit like, "I'm sorry if you took offense at what I said..." It's a lot like saying "I love you" to get laid.
3) Offer a sincere apology. You cool down and realize that you were wrong. This sounds a bit like, "I'm really sorry for what I said to you. I was wrong. I was angry and caught up in the moment, but that's no excuse..."
Big Baby did #2...and good for him, because I don't think an apology was called for in this case.

Seems to me like the kid was standing where he was not supposed to be--he was the one who should have apologized for standing too near to the court. If there are standing-room areas around the court, then OK, but the kid shouldn't have been that close to the court. The fault could have been in the security, but this would not have happened had dear old dad had his son positioned in his assigned seat. I guess it's like being hit by a semi while standing on the shoulder next to the road--my Mom taught me to look at oncoming traffic and give it some room.
