CBK’s track record of QB’s

CBK has produced lots of talented TE’s and O-linemen, but not many successful QB’s. I’m not sure why everyone thinks CBK is a QB guru, who is the best signal caller that he developed in South Bend? Below is a list of his starting QB’s at Notre Dame:
Ian Book
DeShone Kizer
Malik Zaire
Everett Golson
Tommy Rees
Dwayne Crist
There are several other head coaches that have proven track records of developing high quality QB’s - Lincoln Riley, Saban, Urban Meyer, Dabo, and Chip Kelly are a few of them. Based off of his past QB’s, what makes you believe CBK will chose and develop the best QB at LSU? I think he exceeded expectations in year 1 by winning 10 games, but our downfield passing attack this season was non existent and it’s disappointing that we will have to go through that again next year. How much better could this team have been if we had a true down field passing game?

BK has always had shitty DT QBs tbh

Les Miles without the championships.

Saban develops good QBs? I guess Eddy O is a great QB developer as well?

There are 3 current NFL starters that came from Saban’s program

Nice. In that case, glad Kirby developed Justin Fields!

BK is a head coach. He isn’t spending huge amounts of hands-on time working with the QBs. It’s Denbrock and Sloan who are doing this job, so this post is pretty pointless.
As for Denbrock, he has his flaws, but he did a damn good job with Desmond Ridder at Cincinatti. He noticeably improved every season in college and was ready to be a capable backup in the NFL as a rookie. He threw for 50% or better with no picks across 4 games for Atlanta, so he certainly doesn’t suck.

Was the most glaring and concerning aspect of the CBK hire for me.

I've never heard much of people identifying him as a " Quarterback Quru" in fact I agree that the list isn't heavily populated with big names. What I do associate and have heard his name identified with is winning. Producing programs that succeed. So in today's game if it takes prolific QB vs..previously RB'S Then I believe that he will find the proper staff and personnel to do what it takes to keep winning more games.

I'm equally cautious about our QB development. Kelly has generally handled the QBs simply as a means to an end - just pick and prod, use the running game, wear teams down, and get out of town with a win. He often used 2 QBs in a season, and in many games. He did all of this against lesser comp than the SEC.
However, he is dealing with alot better talent here, including the surrounding parts. We may not think Daniels is uber talented, and he may not be, but he's a placeholder for now. We all see Nuss' talent, and he did progress from his time before Kelly. I think Daniels' progression to next year will be telling. Kelly and Denbrock have all the time in the world to paint the canvas.
That's all we have for now. This isn't Notre Dame. And, Kelly had one off season with Daniels and Nuss.
Moving forward, I'll be anxious to see his QB talent assessment. If we get uber talented guys in, that's a great start. That may be the end, considering the transfer portal allows you to get guys in that need very little development. A grade on his QB development isn't applicable yet.

Saban is a defensive guy and doesn’t do much with the QBs except get them to campus
Kinda weird to put him on a list with offensive guys like Lincoln Riley, Chip Kelly, etc.

Most of those qbs were decent but he never had a superstar, if he would have had a top tier qb he possibly would have gotten a championship. I think between Daniels and Nuss there is a good possibility to win it all. I even think a two qb system would dominate.

Not when considering the mouth-breathing idiots around here who live to do nothing but constantly shite on LSU over one thing or another.

I disagree, I think CBK went out and got his guy - JD - and is going to ride with him no matter what. I would imagine Sloan and Denbrock would prefer a QB with better passing abilities than JD if given the choice
