They are actually worse. They have just been winning so hard to say anything.

As an Alabama resident I can tell you the Alabama fans are jealous of LSU right now. They well not come out and say it but they see Kelly as a HUGE threat. Kelly has it easier than Saban, Kelly knocked it out of the park by bringing in Louisiana natives from other teams. The culture in Louisiana is strong and that’s why LSU could be the best team all the time. In lived in Louisiana 24 years of my life and then traveled the country for work. People in Louisiana are different, they want to outwork everyone and they are extremely prideful. As long as Kelly can make the base Louisiana kids and bring in top players from other areas he will dominate. Saban knows this and Saban would have won more titles in BR than Tuscaloosa and that’s a fact.

Those prior players see LSU turning the page and changing the dynamic of the league. We are in great hands as long as Kelly spends all of his remaining years in BR.

Enjoy it fellas!! We are rising to the top and we only improve.

Saban is waxing nostalgic about the good old days of being dominant.

The dynamics of college football have changed. It’s more challenging to do that because there’s more opportunity for guys to make changes, whether it’s transfer or name, image and likeness. Whatever it is. They have more choices than they used to
….Nick Saban

BINGO!

Saban will never do well with players that are paid legally because he cannot control the conditions. Saban is a big external motivation guy. Saban's culture was built around complete control and players agreed to it in the day because, they made a little on the side and it was a path to the NFL. All external motivators for players to do what he wants. Now many of the external motivators Saban used traditionally are not there because of NIL. Players can go play, get paid, have a path to NFL and not have Saban up their backsides daily.

I think you are substantively correct, however, this is not the reason Bama is slipping.

The slip started in 2018, long before NIL. It started when Clemson boat-raced them in the national championship. That game ended the era of Bama being the college football unchallenged alpha. Before that, Bama only lost when a QB had a Superman game, and even then it was close.

A year later, LSU ran them off their own field in a game that was dominated in a way the final score did not indicate. And last year, before NIL really hit, a crap LSU team almost beat them, then Georgia pushed their shite in.

From 2018 to 2022 we are seeing a Bama team that no one fears. They won that championship in the pandemic year, and good for them. Saban deserved it because he held his team together when everyone else folded. But that was Saban’s last, and he will never win another.

I think the slide started when Alabama had to move away from the smash-mouth style to the flag football they play now. It’s effective but not intimidating.

Alabama has lost 2 games by a combined 3 pts( on the road).

Alabama is two plays and five points from being 6-4

Alabama have honestly had 6 nailbiter games that could've gone either way. Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU, and Ole Miss.

The Arkansas game ended up a multiple possession win, but two huge plays shifted that game. The Arkansas linebacker Bumper Pool took horrible angles on back to back plays and gave up a 77 yard scramble on 3rd and 19 when it was a 5 point game and Arkansas had all the momentum. After giving up the 77 yard scramble to the backup Bama QB who can't throw, mind (you), Arkansas went three and out after scoring on the previous two possessions to make it a 5 pt game. On the NEXT Bama offensive play after the 77 yard scramble, Bama ran a counter with Jahmyr Gibbs and their linebacker overran it to the outside. The Bama guard just took him for a ride to the sideline. Meanwhile Jahmyr Gibbs cut back inside the Guard and ran for a 72 yard touchdown. In two plays, mistakes by one Arkansas linebacker in a 5 point game where Arkansas was about to get the ball back with all the momentum, Pool missed a tackle on 3rd and 19 and gave up a 77 yard scramble up the middle. Then the next Bama play he overran it and gave Gibbs a lane to cut back and rush for 72 yards and a TD. So in two Bama plays the 5 point game flipped to a 19 point lead. It was kinda embarrassing. I think they added another field goal late late and won by 22. All of this happened in the 4th quarter.

So Bama had 6 close games out of 10. The good news for their fans is that they won 4 of those 6. The bad news is that they won 4 of those 6.
