Just how deep and talented is the lefties in your bullpen?? Is it believe that we will face left handed pitchers from the 1st through the 9th??

As far as lefties in our bullpen go, Packer is going to be our go to guy. Has a great arm and good experience. Davis is very good as well, just not quite as polished

And yes, you very well may see nothing but lefties 1-9

So we can expect to see 2 lefties out of the pen before anyone else??? And chances are if we get to your third lefty (Davis), we are either in extra innings or it has been a long day for you guys??

I have great confidence in Hultzen, especially against a team that has struggled against LHPs. If he does get into trouble, we have one hell of a bullpen to back him up. I just hope our boys are able to get the bat on the ball when Renaudo is on the mound.

I can think of 147 reasons why they probably wont.

Not quite saying that. I expect to see Packer in first out of the pen. I would then expect to see Arico, but possibly Davis if thats what the situation calls for. O'Connor is hoping to just throw Hultzen, Packer and possibly arico against yall.

Well we've known for a while if we're gonna win anything we are gonna have to beat a Lefty. I'm really not concerned about it at all...it's gonna be a hard game, but last time i checked anthony ranaudo is an absolute animal in his own right. If we score 4 runs I think we win

BTW... to the two Virginia guys that made their way to the board. You guys are a breath of fresh air to this place and bring up interesting discussion, unlike some of the other morons that frequent this place (just take a look at some of the titles of the other threads..don't go into them though because you will quickly believe that the entire LSU fanbase is that idiotic).

I'm sure it's been a great ride for the baseball fans in Virginia. Hopefully you hit a bump in the road Saturday though.

Thank you, i've had a pleasant time discussing the upcoming game with you as well. I know I may sound like a broken record but expect to see a lot of Hultzen and Packer. Couldn't be more excited for the game

Well it certainly will be no surprise to face lefties against teams that have decent ones. Rice was supposed to have a great pitching staff. Only problem was their two aces were right handers. They obviously didn't fair to well. Good luck to you guys. I hope you make a good run. But I hope you make that run through the losers bracket.

Maybe, but that will depend heavily on the situation. Arico is the 9th inning shut-down closer and he's been fantastic in that role. If the bottom ninth rolls around, we have a lead, and two of the first three batters of the inning bat lefty, O'Connor will have a tough time pulling Davis* if he pitches.

Of course, I'm hoping Danny zips through seven or eight with only a few hits and maybe a walk and keeps his pitch count under a hundred. That'll leave Packer with much lighter clean-up duty.

All that assumes, of course that A) UVa will be able to hit Ranaudo and B) LSU isn't able to hit Hultzen.

One thing I feel very safe in assuming: I'll be drinking a beer and watching some great baseball.

* I don't know what the LSU lineup will be Saturday, but if two of the first three batters of the ninth are lefties, there's a good chance Wilson or even Carraway might come in to clean up the eighth inning against a couple of righties.

Not so sure you will face 2 left handed batters in a row. Unless it is Schimpf and Dean, in which case you don't want to be facing them no matter which hand your glove is on.

TulaneUVA....what is your connection to LSU again? I know you have been on this board for a good while now and I have never really thought to ask you this question until now.

Raised in Louisiana. Went to Tulane briefly pre and post Katrina. Finished degree at UVA. Both younger brothers currently attend LSU. Currently living in Baton Rouge working.
