can you or can you not read? The uniform rules are posted in this thread.
hey uni expert, didn't we also used to have to get permission from SEC teams? it seems like in the past (during the coach d era) vandy used to make us wear gold at home.

Not sure what year it was, but the SEC finally told the NCAA

Holy shite. We need to make a sticky post on LSU uniform rules. Its very simple, please memorize it.
I have to laugh, am still, in fact chuckling. You clearly are an intelligent guy who is frustrated by rantards who haven't yet learned the rules on this issue. It's funny reading your post because I relate to your feelings of frustration about this.
I believe that, often, posters simply respond to the thread title without reading all the posts in the thread. We do see a lot of redundancy on here. That's for sure.
If the Tigers wear white on opening day, then, perhaps it was set up contractually during the initial negotiations with App State. Also, TV negotiations with ESPN could have impacted the decision. I don't know, just speculating. Hell, I still don't know, for certain, what color the Tigers will wear.
I know that I am wearing a white coaches shirt with purple trim and logos.

I think the gold was our idea. We would have had to wear purple, but someone had a good idea to use a gold jersey. The topic has been posted a million times, but is sounds like we've only played in gold three times, at least in recent years. I think the gold jersey is a great idea. I don't want to get back into the jersey debate, but it would look tight with white pants and helmet.

Here is the history. In early 80s NCAA changed rule and dictated that Home team MUST wear dark jerseys. When Dinardo go here in 95 he petitioned the NCAA to change the rule back so that the home team is allowed to wear white jerseys. NCAA changed rule to allow white jerseys at home but said home team can only wear white IF the visiting team allowed it.
In 96, Vandy refused our request to wear white at home so we wore gold. In 97 Spurrier said he would agree to let us wear white at home if we agreed to let UF wear white at their home in 98. So in 98, UF wore white at home and we wore gold. Spurrier again agreed to let us wear white in 99 in Tiger Stadium if we let them wear white in 2000. So in 2000, UF wore white and we wore purple.
After 2000, the SEC changed their rule so that the HOME team in SEC play gets to chose the jersey color. This only applies to SEC games. So LSU now decides its own jersey color at home. We wear white in all SEC games and don't need any permission.
In non-conference games we still need other team's permission to wear white at home. Saban started wearing white for opening game of season against non-conf. teams and mixing it up by wearing purple for all OTHER non-conf. home games. Miles has continued this tradition.

well put. I'll just add that we wore gold during the Indy Bowl against Notre Dame.
I bet there's a post tomorrow about what color we'll be wearing for the app game.

If I were App St., I wouldn't let us wear white. They're not going to enjoy wearing all black in the Baton Rouge August sun.

How about we'll destroy them whatever jersey color we're wearing. Personally, I think the purple jersey's look a ton better and would rather wear them for more home games, but then again, you can't argue with the tradition...

But we can't win without our gold jerseys!
Oh wait... that's the baseball team.

A lot of times this decision, or deal, is made when the contract is drawn up. LSU says, "we'll cut you a check for such and such dollar amount, we'll do this, we'll do that.....oh, but you have to let us wear white." Not saying that this is what happened, but maybe Appy no longer has a choice because of something like this.

I was at that game and for the life of me I do not remember that we wore gold. I can't believe I wouldn't remember something like that. Not doubting you, but it does make me ask, are you sure about this? But I must admit that when I try to forget about major arse whippings that LSU took, sometimes some of the other details about the game gets forgotten too. Like, did it rain when LSU played Miami in 1988?

So.... we should make them wear black so we can wear white, because of the heat.
J/K
But I do think we should suprise them and come out with black jersey's like Georgia!

I'm pretty sure I saw a post from an Appy fan that said their team will be wearing Black.

Have our pants always been white? Just curious...

No boom, I wasn't really doubting him. I just didn't remember and wanted to see if he was sure. I certainly wasn't calling him out on that.
