He looks slow.

Not a SEC football player IMO.

He should do himself a huge favor and go to one of the service academies. He will get to play a large role, will receive a phenomenal education, and will be set up with just about whatever job he wants when he gets out.

Because junior year is usually the year they start getting offers. I’m sure he will get offers if he’s good enough.

I was thinking the same thing. That guy was made for a flexbone offense.

I'm sure he will get offers. There are schools out there who can use him. He has a whole year left to get recognized

The thing I’ll say about that is look at Hester’s offer list:

LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Miami, Notre Dame, Auburn, Oklahoma State (Miles), amongst others.

Coaches knew what the services didn’t.

Hester was one of the toughest kid to ever play at LSU! All about the team! Ask Teboe ?

Why are people comparing him to Hester?

You can think of 10 backs before Hester comes to mind?

He’s definitely top ten in the history of the program because of his production. He was also a better athlete than some people might want to get him credit for.

My original point was that part of the reason he was able to be great was because of timing. If you put Hester on the teams that Darrell Williams was on and put Williams on the the teams Hester was on I bet their careers are very similar. Darrel Williams could have been the guy in ‘06/‘07 but he was just a guy behind Fournette and Guice in his years at LSU.

Yes, but barely. Guys I’d put before him:
Hill, Fournette, Guice, Faulk, Addai, Hilliard, Cannon, Robiski, Taylor, Alexander. That’s ten. I probably missed a couple, so maybe he’s not quite top 10 - but very close.

but if Jeremy Hill/Leonard Fournette/Darius Guice are on that 07 team do we ever know Jacob Hester as anything more than a fullback/special teams guy?

He would have gotten plenty of carries as a backup to any of those guys. He was playing with other NFL backs. And he has 111 attempts in the NFL.

So he would have been Darrell Williams. Good back but overshadowed by better talents. Darrell Williams will probably stick around in the NFL for a little bit as well. The timing was perfect for Hester and he is a great tiger that will always be remembered.
