While it may simply be a matter of semantics, I kind of agree with this idiot for once.
It's bullshite.
I didn't go to LSU because I could not afford it at the time. However, I can count on one hand the number of football games that I have missed since my grandparents started taking me to games at age 5.
I bleed more purple and gold than the vast majority of LSU Alumni, and I have given plenty of my money to LSU athletics so don't fricking tell me for one second that I am not entitled to say "We" if see fit to do so.

What about former players that don't finish their degree?

do you non-alums sing the LSU alma mater after the game? just curious
Posted on 3/30/09 at 9:40 am to Rouge
I understand giving money= supporting the school.
Its just that since we've been good it has turned into a woodstock "I was there thing"
or a 9-11 I saw the second plane hit live thing... stop the BS.

personally, I think thats BS. If you are for the Tigers, then you can say we. If you say "we suck" then you lose your we privledges though, whether alumnus or not.
I am an LSU student(will be alumni in 2 months
) and think every fan that comes out and supports the Tigers is cool. We have many alums who buy tickets and are no shows to games, but then we have non alums who are our lousest fans sometimes(like my grandpa was and he graduated from Tulane
)

the aggression by all of the non LSU grads, exhibited here, is the reason that "WE" don't want to be publicly associated with you.
Seriously, chill the frick out.

Lets throw Mike and Mike in to Mike's tiger cage and "we" can all watch.

To me, you earn the right to be a part of LSU every time they cash your TAF check. Without that money most of the new shite on campus wouldn't exist. They certainly don't give a shite if you're an alum when it comes to that do they??
I'm not an Alum but I'm a member of TAF and had a family member play on the womens basketball team about 12yrs ago. I say "we" when it comes to LSU sports. I also like the nice little letter I received from Paul Mainieri thanking me for the donation I made to the New Alex Box Stadium Building Fund. Maybe I should fax Mike Golic a copy of it to read since he thinks people that aren't alums shouldn't say "WE".
I think it's classy that Paul Mainieri sends letters to "fans" thinking them for donations especially in tough economic times. I've never received any letters from the football, basketball, womens basketball, or Golf coaches thanking me for the donations I've given them.

I don't say "we" when referring to sports teams, unless I am some how involved with that team. I think unless you work, coach, play or are somehow involved with the team don't say we but that is my opinion, and we all know about opinions. So really people can say we if they want to who cares?

Correct me if I'm wrong but LSU don't receive any money from the state for LSU athletics right?? I think LSU athletics are thankful for the regular Joe Blow that spends a lot of money to help out the atheltic dept when it comes to buying tickets or making donations to facilities, for scholarships, etc.

Hey one of TAF's sayings is "Join the TEAM behind the TEAM".

It's America, I can say any goddamn thing I want.
That $2100 I pay for 2 Football tickets each year supercedes the fact that I graduated from another school. Screw Mike Golic.

I don't like "we" when it comes to pro teams cause it usually switches really fast to "they" once a losing streak starts.
I understamd the use of "we" by Alums. If you graduated from sa university, there is a more connected feel.
Not saying nongraduates can't say we, but it makes more sense for alums

So any non-alum can pay money and become part of the institution?
I could send $20 a year to North Carolina and say "WE" won the national title?
It's the students that make the team. Without the students, there is no discussion here. It's our team.

Well, in a round about way you are involved with athletics. Some of your tax dollars go to the university who sponsor university activities such as athletics. Sure, the football program just about funds them all, but you do contribute in some way.

I say we for pro teams. I have a Legacy Brick with my name on it installed outside of Kauffman Stadium where the Royals play and also paid for one to be installed outside of Arrowhead Stadium. I also have personalized Kansas City Chiefs license plates on two of my cars for the donations I've made to the Chiefs Children's Fund. You won't see me saying "they" even though both teams suck.lol.

Lighten up, you literal frick.
My point is I have been a season ticket holder for 27 years. When LSU does good or bad, I will leave the stadium and say "Boy, we looked great today".
I'm smart enough to realize I'm not part of the success, or had any influence whatsoever.
I am amazed that people will sit here and argue about this mindless bullshite.

Damn that's A LOT. I'm sure the LSU football program appreciates that. Especially Les Miles with his salary.

What about the young guys in High School that LOVE LSU..... they can't say we?
What about the older folks who didn't go to college because they needed to get a job to care for their families, but bleed purple and gold....they can't say we?
