Pretty long post detailing your opinion of the LSU games.

Why do you watch so much LSU Football? Envy or Alter?

I'd rather not derail this thread, but I'll entertain this. I only asked three questions, and none of them have been answered. Where you're coming from is the only dumbed down part of this thread.

I watched some of y'all's game against Alabama and really enjoyed it. The rest I picked up looking at stats. I just recently discovered that we'd be playing y'all in the Cotton Bowl and I like to get to "know the enemy" before my Ags take them on. Hence my presence here.

Honest question - have y'all ever had more than one special teams TD in a game?

Our special teams have been truly "special" for most of the season. I'm accounting for one special teams TD by you guys but am wondering if I should be notching up 10-14 points due to ST play?

Peterson will be a non factor in the return game. Our trademark 25-30 yard/4.5 second hangtime punts will see to that.

i referring more to field position...you wont get huge amounts of yardage when you are always working with a 50 yard field...the problem is we cant get TDs with that 50 yard field and we end up kicking a shite ton of field goals..between peterson's returns and our punting, total yardage can be a deceptive stat

thats why LSU can get 51pts on ULM but only 251 yards, or beat MSU by 22pts and yet be outgained by 4 yards

Yeah that makes sense. Y'all's yards per carry were usually higher than the opposition but yeah a shorter field will do that to your totals.

Do y'all see yourselves as more of a big-play type offense? And how do y'all typically do in the red zone?

A&M's defense does a pretty good job of tightening up in the red zone. Our 3 goal line stops against OU were incredible to watch in person.

It was a self deprecating joke Poo. Who needs to return punts when they're only going 25-30 yards?

If you want to know our Achilles heel, that's it right there. Our punting is atrocious. It's so bad that we've trotted our starting qb out on several occasions. And I'm not talking a surprise pooch punt either. I'm saying we've lined him up in the punting formation to kick it away.

Our defense is going to have to play a killer game to beat you all because you the Tigers will probably average 15-20 more yards/punt than we will and our offense isn't good enough to make up the difference every possession against yall's defense.

The bad news for you guys is that we're near the top of the NCAA in redzone defense, 3rd down defense, and 4th down defense (this one should be one of the most fun "minigames" in the matchup btw. Les' 4th down antics vs a great 4th down defense).

you wont see any break out plays for long TDs from the this team

Occasionally we will hit a wide open guy for a large gain though, so i wouldnt call us a big play offense at all...we get our points almost exclusively from field position it seems...our kicker is exceptional and it isnt crazy to see him make 3 to 4 kicks per game, then if we are lucky enough to punch 2 or 3 TDs in we get our upper 20's lower 30's score...we let the defense do the rest typically on a longer field for the other team..which is why it is essentially impossible to blow LSU out even if you are gathering huge chunks of yardage ala Auburn's 526 yards on us but only a 1 TD victory

Prediction:
A&M 24
LSU 20

I think you might wonder how you came to that conclusion when you see how an elite S.E.C. team plays with a month to get their legs fresh.

Give Les Miles 4 weeks and he can scheme with the best of them.

One can argue that LSUs defense will be the toughest defense A&M has seen all year, but i don't think there is any doubt that this will be the most talented and deepest defense that A&M has seen all year. I think that will be the difference, tannehill has not experienced an athletic defense like this and this is where his weaknesses will be exposed IMO. Should be a good game though, Geaux Tigers!

I want our offense to play like it did in the 2nd half of the Bama game.

I agree with this!

LSU offense is dreadful. The QB play is largely incompetent. Count on it for key penalties.

The defense had given up the big play like a two dollar whore gives up...well, you get the idea. It is frequently out of position. The players have not learned anything so far as their play on the field indicates from UNC to the debacle in Little Rock.

LSU could conceivably turn in a solid performance on both sides of the ball, but I think that the team is mostly disinterested...

I hate it, but that is how I see it.

Thanks for the response. I'm pretty convinced the Ags are going to need to string together a good # of 1st downs consistently to win this one. In the latter part of our season we've been able to get consistent yards in order to put away games. Even against Nebraska in the battle of field goals our rushing game was able to put the nail in the coffin, although you can't see it on the scoreboard.

In our last game against the longhorns, Cyrus Gray had his biggest game yet. Yes, I know, the longhorns suck this year (and this makes me happy on many levels), but their defense has actually been pretty stout. Just looked it up and they're ranked #8 just ahead of y'all. Big XII is an offense-happy conference so with Nebraska and t.u. up there so high that's actually saying something.
