This game was a back-up. VA vs FSU was the primary game but somebody shot up the FSU campus yesterday and I believe that game was either cancelled or postponed. I think?

I think the reasoning is more like the SEC is elite competition and networks can get more viewers. Aren't most of the weekend SEC games on national TV?

They rotate series across the SEC each weekend. There are 16 teams with 8 matchups so they won’t be on ESPN every week. Some have to kicked down to SECN, ESPN+
