Is it really O's fault Key couldn't stay off the ganja and munchied his way out of playing shape?
Yes. Just like it was Miles fault re: Perrilloux and Mathieu
Edit: it’s like some of you think accountability goes out the window with a coaching change

The accountability starts with Arden Key.
Posted on 4/27/18 at 8:18 am to Adajax
Ok.
So when he fails to hold himself accountable, is O supposed to look the other way?
In what sport is a head coach NOT held responsible if a player is violating a team rule?

Did O look the other way? I don't remember Key continuing to play. Seems O did what he could to get the young man help and kept it out of the public eye. Sounds like that's what a good coach would do. What is Key's responsibility in staying clean and in playing shape?

Strange how every expert out there says this but because O defends the class, you defend him.
I'm not saying it wasn't the lowest RANKED class. I am saying that in my opinion it is not the "weakest" class as stated in the post I was replying to. This class was in the top 3 in WR, OL, DL.
There were four defensive tackles - FOUR of six defensive linemen signed. TWO offensive tackles of four offensive linemen signed.

O turned Key into a day 3 player. Unreal.

how can you tout his interim tenures and use them as proof that he has changed as a head coach and then say he has only been in charge for 1 year.
I don't tout his interim tenure and haven't for some time.
Only haters can use his interim to bash him for no Miles recruits being taken in the first round of the NFL draft. Other than for blaming purposes the IHC is not allowed on this board.

So when will we start holding Coach O accountable?
Posted on 4/27/18 at 9:49 am to Chimlim
There have been plenty of questionable decisions O has directly made for which he can and should be blamed.
This draft class is not one of those things.

Tiger Ree for example, and a few others, have claimed that o isn't responsible for the lack of talent (when that excuse was being used due to a poor start to the 2017 season)
Except for going the JUCO route it is pretty hard to build talent OR depth on the O or D lines in one year.

then turned around a week or two later and claimed that o was Miles recruiting coordinator in 2016 before he was fired, and o was just as responsible, if not more, for the '17 recruiting class.
He was the RC for 8 months, starting 2 1/2 weeks before the 2016 signing day. Miles was fired after the first four games of the 2016 season. LSU did not lose one committed player. Did the recruits think Miles was going to magically reappear as the LSU head coach?
They had 4 or 5 months to find other schools. Not one recruit did - does Les Miles get credit for them not leaving?

It eats you up that Herman improved his team won a bowl game and out recruited your boy badly.
It really doesn't. If you are proud of 5-4 conference record in the B12 wear it proudly man. I'm not impressed.

Crediting or blaming a 2nd year HC for a draft class is stupid,
you expected otherwise?
And according to Richmomma and other haters until this thread - Eaux is a 1st year coach. The interim part of his career does not count.

Can’t blame coach O for anything, right, Derek?
Not true brother, you can even blame him for not having a 1st round pick in this year's NFL draft. Even though besides Key he did not recruit one player.
Posted on 4/27/18 at 10:07 am to Tiger Ree
yea, give me the guy who made LSU's record vs Sun Belt teams go from 35-0 to 35-1.

A massive turnover probably would have included at least one player from another position.

Such as Jazz Ferguson?
Or Saivion Smith?
Or Isiah Washington?
Or Brandon Harris?
Good post.
Undoubtedly the best post I have ever seen you make. Heck, you even did research - very impressive. Maybe you did learn a little something from RichMomma. Congrats.
Let's take it a little further and look at the transfers since Eaux took over.
OUT: Such as Jazz Ferguson? He finished his LSU career with two catches for 17 yards,
IN: Jonathan Giles - Texas Tech's leading receiver as a sophomore. 1,158 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on 69 catches. Was added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list midway through the season
OUT: Or Saivion Smith? 4-star was expected to challenge for significant playing time this season. His playing time was far from guaranteed, though. Smith and redshirt freshman Andraez Williams were seen rotating during several practices, each getting a crack at the position behind Toliver, the projected starter at cornerback opposite Donte Jackson
IN: Terrence Alexander - 3-star composite 4-star 24/7. Transferred from Stanford. Career back-up. signed for depth at CB position.
OUT: Or Isiah Washington? missed the final few weeks of spring practice for academic reasons. He played six games in his LSU career, all of them coming late in his freshman season of 2015. Transferred to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Academics casualty
IN: Breiden Fehoko Started all 25 games of his Red Raider career. and the ESPN 300 (51) Ranked as the No. 4 defensive lineman in this year's class by Scout and the No. 24 overall prospect
OUT: Or Brandon Harris? Harris decided after the 2016 season to leave LSU. He began the season as the starter but lost that job to Danny Etling by the second week. Former LSU QB Brandon Harris struggles, benched in debut for North Carolina
IN: Thaddeus Moss The No. 123 player nationally regardless of position by Rivals.com ... No. 6 tight end nationally and No. 7 overall player in North Carolina by Rivals.com ... The No. 18 tight end nationally, No. 2 in North Carolina by Scout.com

It also includes RS Freshmen
And all special teamers.

What about the other 27 or 28 freshmen that had to play?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Had” to play?
Myles Brennan “had” to play QB vs BYU?
Clyde Edwards-Helaire “had” to play RB vs BYU?
Okay, what about the other 25 or 26 freshman?

Neither player got taken in the 1st. I don’t care about the draft but from a player development aspect neither player got the development/stats or structure ( Key ) they needed to maximize their potential. So whomever was in charge of that player being at there best this past season should take some blame. Period.
Seriously?
The Key situation may have been handled exactly as it should have been for LSU and Arden.
Arden Key Finished career with 130 tackles, 26.5 tackles for loss, 21 sacks and 28 quarterback hurries ... The 21 sacks tie with Gabe Northern for third place in LSU history ... Set the LSU single-season sack record in 2016 with 12 sacks ... Two-time first team All-SEC selection as well as being a Freshman All-American in 2015.
Sounds like Eaux did a great job of developing Arden Key.
What was he supposed to do with Guice? Attend the NFL team interviews with him. Then go to the press interviews and review each question and tell Guice how to answer?

Then O gets credit for Fournette, Adams, and White going in the first round last year? He was interim and RC so it's on him right? Is O to blame that LSU had no first rounders taken in 2015 or 2016?
Great post !!!
But, Eaux only gets blamed for bad things. It's the way of the Rant and the Tards who frequent it.
