Etling will do fine in this offense.

It's nice to see a team be able to complete a screen pass.

One of my biggest concerns is the sideline to sideline stuff. Wasn't that. Huge knock on the end of jimbo and crowton? Too much close perimeter passing and not enough down field shots?

I think the motion helps. Maybe it will be better with our better athletes

OMG

scroll through the whole thread. read it.

huh? jimbo was the master at bubble screens. which is a type of horizontal stretch like a jet or toss sweep. No, jimbo threw all over the damn field.

crowton? the reason you are thinking that is because JJ could not run crowton's offense. go back and watch 2009 again. Miles changed to way more simplified run heavy in 2010 when he took reins away from crowton.

Man, this thread has not proven that it WILL work. Of course we all know that it can work. You act like it's a damn guarantee.

Sure, there are pros to running jets, sideline to sideline, and other plays at the line, BUT are there no cons to it? Like negative plays. I'm 100% sure that number will go up from last year.

I would say auburns offense more closely resembles canada, and they have gone for long periods of time stinking it up.

I'll wait and see, but thanks for being the only person in the thread with some football knowledge.

I just don't know if a bunch of that sideline sweep stuff will work as much on the faster SEC defenses

It worked on Clemson with much less talent.

If you had you would see what UF, OSU and Au have done against good defenses with horizontal and vertical games using whole field.

Those teams, along with clemson, have one thing in common. And we ain't got it.

Imagine what Canada may have done with legitimate Olympic talented athletes like X Carter, B Brazell, and Trindon. Those guys should have been running a fly/go route nearly every down and had the DB's needing oxygen late in the game.

I want that Pitt OL Ryan O'Neal to transfer to LSU.

How about hitting Ohio & Pennsylvania for a few OL's?

Sure keeps the defense guessing.

Will it work against a top SEC defense?

Yes, that's it's primary strategy.

Yes, for the reason you just mentioned.

You don't beat Alabama and their 250lb first-round-draft-pick LBs by lining up and going toe-to-toe with them. You beat them by getting them out of position and running themselves out of the play with misdirection.

That is pretty much how every team who has beaten Bama the past five years has beaten them. Either that, or they had elite gun-slinging QBs who could throw the ball all over the field. Seeing as LSU doesn't have an elite gun-slinging QB, Canada's offense looks like LSU's best bet for the time being.
