They're exactly the same in that they hurt no one.

I hate Neck btw. I like the oldies. But if you have a problem with college students misbehaving at college events, then you shouldn't attend college events.

1. It's not "their" event.
2. Their idea of fun and funny is not the same as mine. They might think it's "fun" to rob a bank. Should we let them have "fun" however they please? I think not.

Hypothetical:

If the AD never told the band to stop playing these songs and the SS was still chanting the obscenities... How many people would be on here bitching about how bad our SS is?

For that matter, how many of the current bitchers would be partaking themselves in said vulgar chants??

Yes it is. We are guests at it.

I'll just let that one roast in the sun.

You may be a guest but as former students or alumni, many of the rest of us are definitely not. We contribute enough to the athletic program that we are by far not guests at this but have as much of a deserved place there as the students.

When false equivalence meets slippery slope, an angel falls from grace, children cry, and kittens are punched in retribution. Please be careful. We have only one internet. Don't break it by murdering logic on it.

I remember when my mama said I couldn't do something too. It usually didn't work out to well. I just wanted to do it even more.
Let students be students.

I just hate how completely void of cleverness STTDB is. If you're going to start a chant, start something that is actually funny. Start something that is clever. Start something that sounds like you use what little creativity you have.

I recently graduated (in fact, the year before STTDB started), and none of us would have thought that chant was funny. Be vulgar, be obscene, be inappropriate if you want, students. However, cursing like an 8th grader who just started using the F-word is not something that's very funny. At least be creative so the rest of the country doesn't think we're the stupid backwoods hicks we apparently are.

Would someone in the student section kick this dude's arse at the next game? It's a college event; he won't mind.

Seriously, let the students be drunken, loud, and outrageously obnoxious students. That's what they do best.

I'll preface my comment by saying I do not contribute to STTDB. I don't think it's clever and find it to be kind of trashy. But these people need to make up their minds. Do you want the student section to be rowdy and alive or soft and well behaved? The same people who are saying students need to be louder, more passionate, and to stop leaving early are the same ones complaining about what they chant and how the students need to stop this, stop that.

Funny, we seemed to be able to avoid (for the most part) constant uncreative chants while also being raucous fans of LSU football. And that was just a few years ago. You don't need to scream Jr. High profanity to have a loud stadium. In fact, if anything the stadium has gotten much quieter and more boring in the last few years as the STTDB has caught momentum.

I've never heard another college football student section chant that begins on the 7 count. That's pretty creative.

It would actually be funnier and more creative if they chanted "Bleep that Tiger's bleep, bleep"
