bottom line, LSU athletics would not be what it is today if it weren't for TAF....get over it, pay what you have to pay or miss out! All the big and a lot of the small schools have their own TAF. It's about much needed support. Most of these people that donate to TAF wouldn't if they didn't get some perk in return. If you don't support TAF, that's your choice but quit bitching & crying about it!

Some fans think it's just a coincidence that we started winning when we decided to get serious about raising money to pay top dollar for coaches and improve our facilities.

Money is a dirty word these days.

Where should I begin?

Let's see...I used to think I had a shot at one day owning season tickets for LSU football and baseball games. As a graduate of the university I also had plans to donate money to the academic endeavours of the university when I had the finacial means (which I do now). After all, the better the university is perceived around the country, the better my degree looks to perspective employers.

Unfoutunately the two are at odds with each other. Tickets used to be on a first come first serve basis. All I had to do was wait my turn and pay my dues like the generations before me and I would eventually get tickets. Not anymore. Now I have to donate a significant portion of my annual charitable donations to TAF to keep myself even relatively hopeful of getting tickets. This of course keeps me from giving to the university's academic side. Maybe if there was more money to be freed up if all LSU donors weren't trying to keep their rank high enough to benefit from TAF, then there would be money to offset the budget cuts the state is proposing at LSU this year.

Let's talk about the performance of the sports programs now. I can't argue that the football program is benefiting from the massive donations TAF donates. Money creates winners, and winning demands even more money. I feel that the salaries of college football coaches have reached a rediculous level. College football is becoming a proffesional sport and I'm a little saddened by this. Have we sold our souls to win a couple of championships?

As long as there are people that don't question the powers that be there will always be abuse of those powers.

True, I believe every school have a booster club to help support athletics. I heard schools like Florida, USC, Texas and Notre Dame have A LOT of members in theirs and A LOT of cash flowing through.

Very true. When tickets for a major Div 1a college football game costs more than NFL tickets then you know it's all about money. I have alot of respect for LSU season ticket holders, they pay a lot of money for those seats. I heard other schools charge even more for season tickets.lol.

Here's basically how TAF works ...

You donate money to TAF ... You get "TAF points" depending upon the amount of your donation ... Going by these points, everyone in TAF is ranked, most points being ranked the highest and so forth. The higher you are ranked, the better chance you have at getting tickets (regular season and postseason) for all sports, as all the major sports issue tickets based on TAF point ranking now. Even postseason and away game tickets are issued based on the priority points now.

If you already had tickets before TAF, you can keep them. But all new season tickets are distributed based upon your TAF ranking. People over the age of 30 that already had tickets got it easy. The people that suffer in this system are the under 30 crowd that are "forced" to make a donation to climb the TAF rankings in order to get "new" season tickets.

Basically you donate to climb the rankings and get yourself in position in the rankings to get tickets. If you guys are starting now, I recommend donating from the very beginning, and make a donation every year depending upon yalls "point level" structure.
