Watch the press conference again. JJ is Les's guy. He'll start win or lose.

Geez did we learn nothing from last year? I don't know that JJ could've played any worse than he did the first half of last year and Les still would not replace him.

And everyone assumes Mett is gonna step in and take over?

BTW I keep hearing Mascona say Mett had beaten out Murray at UGA. I can't find a source that backs him up on that. Where's he getting that? Every old article I can find says either he was competing with or was behind Murray.

If we want to compare won-loss records, remember Mett led Butler Community College to an 11-1 mark, one less loss. His receivers missed some catchable passes, they had no place kicker so the team could have easily finished 12-0 and national champs.

Are you really comparing wins earned in JUCO ball to those earned in SEC/FBS football???

I hope Mett leaves LSU as an AA, but the difference between JUCO ball and SEC ball is like day to night.

I agree juco and sec there is no comparison buy night and day? I can understand if it was just some random juco kid but it's not.... Newton had no trouble adjusting and mett us a better passer... Also ya juco but now mett is surrounded by better players...

If jk is our starter so be it but only if he has improved but they were saying the same last year after he got done at thr manning camp.

Mett did out play Arron Murray in the elite 8 camp and the ga spring game.. Would he have gotten the starting posistion , who knows

Thanks for the help, DFWLSUTX. Of course, I know there is no comparison between the SEC & JUCO, but the original post was obsessed about W-L records. I think once Mett gets thru' spring training and into the fall, it should be obvious he's a better passer than JJ, though that isn't necessarily saying much. Since he competed so well vs. Murray, I think he'll compete very strongly against JJ & Lee.

How about a qb that can run the "throw the ball to our talented receivers instead of having to run" offense. I hate the wildcat

Murray was a top 5 SEC QB this past season, behind Camcam and Mallett and McElroy statistically... I thought he was the best pro-style QB in the conference, and that was before AJ Green even got back from his suspension. Once AJ was back they were scoring 40 points per game.

I don't think your assessment is quite as dire as you may have intended it being...at least, it isn't to me.

LSU needs a QB that can get the ball in the hands of it's talented personnel, not a QB that can run. A QB that runs at the slightest pressure is a liability.

A Qb that is comfortable and knows the offense and makes good decisions would be nice.

But do you honestly think that Les is more loyal to JJ than the other 90+ guys on the team, his coaching staff, his family, his pocketbook, his legacy, the university, the fanbase, etc...? If so, Good Lord, why?
I never understood how people could believe that.

I just cannot imagine that if Mett comes in and CLEARLY outperforms JJ that ol' Loyal Les will stick with the clearly inferior player.
I sometimes wonder if these people remember that Jarrett Lee was once our starting QB.

Cam seems to be one of those college football freaks of nature that comes alone every 20 to 30 years and I will have to wait for Mett to prove to me he is anything close to Cam before I champion him as being in any way/shape/form better than Cam.

I have no idea bout that, but I heard on BR radio from MD, the Louisiana football talent guy, that Murry was going to start at Ga cause the Ga staff felt Mett was too inconsistent. That was a year ago so who knows now.

We all will see what happens in the spring/fall. I'm willing to let the LSU staff make that call and I don't care who starts as long as LSU keeps winning.

p.s.------Sorry, I misread your better passer comment. I'm not sure Mett will give us a better passer, but if he does it's no skin off my nose. I want what's best for the program.

So you want to base your QB on a single, over-exposed, formation ? Gary, is that you ?

Richt just never came out and said Murray is the guy, he kept it really quiet during Spring etc.

UGA fans claim the competition was close, but not THAT close.

Uh no, the tight end for UNC dropping a wide open TD locked up the game.
