No one will be miserable if LSU beats Oregon. The fact that JJ has a good game would make it all the more miraculous.

exactly. i would love nothing more than for JJ to have success as a QB..
Posted on 3/4/11 at 7:01 pm to SouljaBreauxTellEm
but why would we want Met to run the wildcat?

He WILL have a good game and that doesn't mean a thing.
He always plays well when he has 3 weeks or more to prepare. THey script everything and helearns enough plays to fool idiots like you. Whne he sucks is when he is forced to use his own brain and only a week to prepare for the next opponent. Then there is to little time for his dumb arse to grasp what is needed to play well that week.
Look it up, basiccally every time he has a good game it is after weeks of prep!
Then there is only one week between games, that's wehn you see the non prgressing, happy feet, confused, non leader show up.
He's just a good athlete playing wb and not knowing what the hell to do to run the offense.

Historically, JJ has played well in the first and last games of the year. And one or two in between.

JJ does not run the wildcat. He panic scrambles. There is a difference.

It's tough to really comment on either JJ or Lee. With Lee, if he is in four down territory and the game is on the line (Tenn and Fla), he is successful. When he's not in this position, he's pretty mediocre.
With JJ, he may not be throwing TDs, but at least we pick up first downs with him in the game, keeping us ahead with good field position until we eventually punch it in. We run the ball better with JJ, for sure.
The only accurate statement you can say about either of the two is that they are below average QBs. Mett, IMO, should come in and be at least average if not above average among other SEC QBs.

This isn't JJ ranked 94th, this is LSU as a team, dumbass. I never said JJ was great at picking up first downs, he was just slightly better than Lee (in three down territory). In four down territory, I want Lee in the game everytime. You can't run an offense like that, however. When Lee had three downs to work with, he was mediocre. JJ was only slightly better than him.
Who was better: JJ or Lee? I think JJ was a little better, but what if Lee had more opportunities? I just hope this debate is non-existent next year with Mett coming in and OWNING the position.

I didn't even notice I was replying to you.
LOL at you thinking you're special.
Awesome.

Why are you incapable of having rational debates? You got some issues going on there. Sucks for you.

How unbelievable ironic of YOU to say that.
shite just gets better and better.
But yea, you're right. 94th ranked with a solid running game, but according to YOU, JJ can move the chains.

Never said that. I said he could move 'em better than Lee. If Lee had more opportunities, maybe I wouldn't feel that way.

Dude, I'm not defending JJ. If you read my post, you will see that I think JJ and Lee are both below avg QBs and I'm crossing my fingers that Mett will take over and be that reliable QB we've been missing the last three years.

Watch the press conference again. JJ is Les's guy. He'll start win or lose.
You've made your position on this pretty clear. As have the other posters who keep quoting what he said about his loyatly being a strength and a weakness. And I certainly understand this POV. But do you honestly think that Les is more loyal to JJ than the other 90+ guys on the team, his coaching staff, his family, his pocketbook, his legacy, the university, the fanbase, etc...? If so, Good Lord, why?
I just cannot imagine that if Mett comes in and CLEARLY outperforms JJ that ol' Loyal Les will stick with the clearly inferior player. I do think that if it's close, the tie will go to JJ and his experience. But I think the ball is in Mett's court to come in and win the job. He's going to have to actually do it.
If Mett does win the job, I do think that Les's loyalty to JJ might manifest itselt in him coming in and running some option a few times per game. Whether that be the read-option or traditional option, not sure. Unfortunately, I don't think that leaves much room for the Wildcat, though it would likely be much more successful.

JJ accounted for 4TD's in the Cotton.
He also only threw for 4 passing touchdowns during the 12 game regular season. Only one team threw less touchdowns than LSU(that would be Army). He also had a string of 7 straight games without throwing for over 100 yards(how is that possible in the age of pass happy offenses?).
Even with his good performance in the CB, he was just 10-19 for 154 yards with an ugly arse interception. No fricken way that Mett is a worse passer than JJ. No reason this team shouldn't be able to average 225-250 passing/game and around 185-200 yards rushing/game. JJ will not lead this team to that kind of offensive output. There is enough data to look back at that proves this.

I really hope he plays the whole game against us in Dallas. It'll only improve our chances..
