please try switching up the defense from man to man to a furious 2-3 zone from time to time. He tends to stick with man to man the entire game like the NBA and they are getting murdered in the lane. Also, can someone man up and defend the paint? No one has a shot blocking mentality! It is frustrating to watch this team "try to play defense!"

We may be the worst zone team I've ever watched. If you don't practice zone defense a ton, it normally makes players lazy... We already look lazy on defense. No way that would help. Just have to play better man to man.

When you can't stop guys on the perimeter and don't have a rim protector, it doesn't really matter what scheme you play. Our guards are going to have to get in front of people going toward the goal or we aren't going to stop the layup drill against anyone. There is no Jordan Mickey or Stromile back there to erase mistakes. That means Blakeney and Sampson are going to have to move their feet and play a little D.

Also, Epps murders our matchup zone. He has no idea what he's supposed to do on defense and people get layups, dunks, and threes because of it. He can't rebound or play defense and he's our 4/5.

Did you watch his teams play the last few years? When his teams try to play zone, it is even a bigger disaster.

Nice feedback! I agree on all levels. I just had high hopes for this team. I hope they make a big turnaround...soon!

This is all coaching...zones don't make teams lazy. A coach with no in game discipline makes teams lazy. I agree on you have to practice a zone defense. But, there is no "type" of defense that should make any team lazy. Lazy is a coaching problem, not a player problem. It is the coaches job to make his team not play lazy. As a coach you want your team to sell out for you, and if you can't do that you need to make some adjustments.

IMO we need to press as much as possible. LSU only has a chance if we get up and down the court. We will get beat any night to a team who slows the game down and plays a half court style.

Are you the coach?
what are your coaching abilities?
have you coached before?
have you ever signed a #1 recruiting class?
do you make 1.5 million dollars?
do you coach basketball at LSU?

if no, you aren't qualified to criticize any coaching decisions.

It's called the Tiger Rant for a reason...we are just expressing our own opinions.

Johnny Jones knows what needs to be done because he says it in the post game of every game. His problem is actually teaching what needs to be done.
