His bat would bebetter than Hughes in the lineup. Would he be a liability defensively?

Can he make the play Hughes made against State Tuesday?

No, but he could probably hit 50 points higher than Hughes.

What about Broussard at SS while we are at it?

That play was worth more than 50 points in BA IMO. It saved that game.

Is his arm good enough? Maybe Reid can play 2b.
Reid gets on base....Hughes just isn’t there as a hitter yet. It’s no knock on him, he’s still very young.

Hal Hughes was key in many of our victories........with his fielding and butting and some hitting this year. Give the kid a break. We all can't be perfect at 19 years old. I'm thankful we had him at shortstop.

I’m sure Hughes’ hitting will improve with experience, but the team is in need of offense.
Here are Reid vs. Hughes Career Stats:
Avg. hr. RBI OB% Sb Plate app.
.275. 1. 24. .409. 0. 308 Reid
.222. 1. 17. .297. 2. 176 Hughes

My initial question was about Reid’s defensive abilities because he would definitely get on base more in the 9 hole and set up the top of the lineup to produce more runs.
Is Hughes’ defense saving more runs than Reid’s offense would produce?
